Have you ever seen that (old) movie ?

It's from 1972 and directed by John Boorman

It is said to be a masterpiece

BTW, it is not for sissies ;)

You got a purdy mouth ;)
.....It was filmed in my backyard.

Speaking of screwed up films.....Ever see those 2 other flicks "A Clockwork Orange," and/or "I spit on your grave?" Both movies are probably just as old and on the same level of that shock value. Good flicks though....

A clockwork orange is a classic.
I spit on your grave, never seen it...

The most famous local used in the film was Billy Redden, the retarded banjo player listed as "Lonny" in the credits. According to Christopher Dickey, Redden couldn’t even fake the banjo playing and "the scene was set up with Billy sitting on a kind of swinging bench, and another boy hidden beneath it, whose left hand up Billy’s sleeve was faking the fingerwork for the camera."
The "squeal like a pig" scene was filmed in one take, a good thing since Beatty said he wouldn’t do it again. To this day, he won’t discuss that scene

Reynolds foolishly insisted doing his own stunts and injured himself after going headfirst over a waterfall. Reynolds asked Boorman how the stunt looked. "Like a dummy going over a waterfall," replied the director.

Hillbilly #1: "This river don’t go to Aintry. You done taken a wrong turn."

Ed: "If you gentlemen have a still near here, hell, that’s fine with us."

Hillbilly #2: "Hold it or I’ll blow your guts out all over these woods!"

Hillbilly #1: "I bet you can squeal like a pig."

Bobby: "Wheeeee! . . . Wheeeee! . . . Wheeeee!"

Hillbilly #2: "He’s got a real purty mouth, ain’t he?"

I wonder how much they had to pay beaty to make that movie? Dang, I bet everywhere he went he heard squeal like a pig boy.

the fucked up remake coming out without a paddle looks funny

I suppose its not really a remake but kinda poking fun at it,but hillbillys and burt reynolds are in it

Definitely a masterpiece

Great acting (Burst Reynolds best move so far, Jon Voight is also pretty good)

Stunning photography

Great music

and disturbing plot

More than 30 years later this movie is still very powerful

Great flick. Gave hillbillies their 10 minutes of fame.

Ned Beatty will never live this flick down.

Ned Beatty actually wrote an article about that for the New York Times Op-Ed page once. He still gets heckled on the street by people shouting "Squeel like a pig!" on an almost daily basis.

Bobby: Mister, I love the way you wear that hat.
Old man: You don't know nothin'.

Lewis: Sometimes you have to lose yourself 'fore you can find anything.

Burst Reynolds has a natural charisma
Reminds me of Sean Connery
Too bad he wastes it doing so many stupid movies
