how many of you have seen this documentary? Wow! I had no idea the extent of pedophilia in the Catholic Church and the extent of the cover-up. It is SHAMEFUL. That is very disillisioning.

+1. I could never belong to an organization that covered up this sort of thing. Even used the money gathered from the pews to fund legal fees the defend these sicko's

so, let's talk about this. I'm beginning to think that these priests are brought into the church at a young age and told that sexual feelings are to be repressed. could this repression lead to an immature development of the pscho-sexual aspects of the young man and ultimately lead to pedophilial tendencies? Or are pedophiles drawn to the church for some reason? There are far too many pedophiles in the Catholic church to write it off as coincidence. It seems to be above and beyond any statistical deviation.

Overall it's probably both IMO. They are born pervs and can't help it, the church is a way to be accepted by society and actually looked up too. They probably repress these evil thoughts as much as they can but eventually "the devil" wins.
There was a priest here on Long Island named "father Hands" who got busted too. And yes..... that's his real name.

+1. But just because they're pervs doesn't excuse them from their actions. They should execise self control. Not diffent than someone with violent tendencies, or substance abbuse issues.

I think God gave us sex for a reason. Anytime an adult is horny, which is normal for them (esp doods) to be and they're prohibited (or taken a chastity oath) from getting any, it can lead to all kinds of HUGE problems.

I'm sure it was all part of God's plan though right? Yeah he really loves his children. Whoever set up Catholicism needs to be burning in hell, because in being so enlightened to hear the word of God they should've also been able to foresee this mess and say waitaminute.

Here is the thing.

The Catholic Church only implemented the rule for not marrying a couple of hundred years ago! Most people don't know that. They were always allowed to marry before that. The Church was upset that when the priests were dying their inheritances were going to their wives. So, they banned marriage!
