Deleted emails, can they be traced?

Just a quick question. Can deleted email messages be retraced or pulled back up on your computer once they have been deleted? If so what can be done to prevent this?

Are you talking about from a workplace or your home? If it's from work then yea, even though you delete them, the mail server can still have a copy. If it's from home, it depends on what kind of email you're using. I imagine they could if they were already watching you. If it's something like hotmail or yahoo just use something to clean your tracks. I guess if you were being watched they could hold your emails as well. Either way I don't think you have to worry about it. Paranoia is good to a point but don't let this get to you

I have been wondering this myself.Lets say you get busted at home recieving a package, could they somehow read all your deleted e-mail messages if they were elitefitness e-mails,or some other encrypted e-mail?

yes

The feds can get anything and everthing from youre hard drive remove it and youre set and change servise providers!

see roaddog that was what I was thinking.

Poncho, so they can retrieve anything from your harddrive despite the fact that you have deleted your messages?

theoretically speaking, of course.

this is true. If you delete items from your harddrive they are still able to get the info. You would have to wipe out the hard drive and reformate everything.

Even reformatting it won't help. If they wanted it bad enough they can still get it. You would have to get some kind of utility that rewrites the hardrive with 1's and 0's. I heard that a building burnt down and they were still able to recover like 80% of the data from the HDD.
