yeah i like him better than Stephen King. I have read almost all of his books, i would suggest "The Bad Place" horrer/scifi, or "icebound" which is lots of interesting action too

I like Dean Koontz's books too..... they are ala Stephen King, but they seem to be better written than King's lately..... some good stuff....

agreed. I never got into King, didn't hold me. Koontz is good - a lot of his older stuff is very disturbing. Phantoms scared the shit outta me.

i'm not bashing him bad, i jus felt that some of his books were a bit too much alike.....

I think any writer that puts out as many books as he has will eventually start seeming alike. Not saying that is okay, but it is simply inevitable.

That is why I tend to like the FIRST few books a writer does - when the ideas are fresh.

Like James Patterson - I loved the first few of his books, now they are becoming less interesting for me.

I have become a HUGE fan of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - they are phenominal writers, IMHO. They write books together - Relic, Still Life With Crows, The Cabinet of Curiosities, The Ice Limit. And more.....

Watchers was the first book of his that I read and I've always liked it. I loved intensity. I've read a ton of them as a change of pace from my normal fantasy and nonfiction genres.

I like S. King up to a certain point -- but then he just got too weird and seemed to have changed the way he writes. His books no longer "do it" for me. Now Dean makes a "normal" sounding scenario into something frightening.... very good writer....

Stephen King USED to be good, but his books arent anything like they used to be
Koontz is a great author and to me, his best book BY FAR is Intensity.............crap i couldnt put that book down, they made a movie out of it, but the book paled in comparison to that book
You guys have to check it out and maybe we shoudl get Oprah in here to have a forum for her book club:)

Stephen King has gone beyond writing the R.L. Stine "Goosebumps" books............

thank you everyone for your replys. I tried to give out as much vit K as i could but ran out. I will definetly take the formentioned suggestions and not any lay fallow.

Human target brings about an interesting point. Formulaic as I believe it is called. I have noticed that most John Grishom books follow the same "hook template" sort of speak..slangese haha

i.e. a good looking lawyer in a flux of conspiracy...(not all but most)
