Deadlifted 455 yesterday.

I have recently started deadlifting weekly on my back days and last night I did 455 lbs. My first attempt I couldn't get it because my form is still not perfect, but it pissed me off and I tried it again and did it rather easily. I am 20 years old, 6'1'', and 258 lbs and lean. Once my form and explosiveness improve I am sure I will be able to get somewhere in the 500's. :dance2:

cool, congrats. Always nice to see hard work paying off. I think the deadlift is so much better for you and is severely under rated with most people. Peole always ask "how much you bench".

Thanks Spatts. Speed is so important I am finding out in this lift. I have a tendency to want to use my lower back a little to much and while I can get away with that with lighter weight it is impossible to do with heavy weight, not to mention it is horrible on your back. It sure feels good to when you fail at something but come right back and kick it in the ass.:D

If you're doing it right, it IS all lower back. Perhaps you're talking about romanian or SLDL?

gwl...200 +/- ;)
No I am talking about regular deadlifts. The first part of the movement involves the legs mostly or otherwise your lower back would be shot. Am I missing something here?

NICE PULL!!

Spatts was talkin about GM's to build the muscles that deadlift. I posted this on the PL Board...but I have to say that if you have access to one the Safety Squat Bar is a great way to build your deadlift. The design of the bar tries to throw you forward, so you have to constantly fight it back...just like a deadlift. If you can..give it a try.

Congrats...
