How do you guys work dead lift into your routine?? How many sets, how many reps per set.. Im bulking now, I have done dead lifts before, but Im dedicated to woking them into my regular routine now..

I do them on back day. i don't have a set routine, its whatever i feel like doing.. i did them friday and this was my workout.

warmup 225lbs 12 reps
1st set 315 x 10
2nd set 405 x 8
3rd set 405 8
4th set 485 x 3

that was my deadlift routine.

since they are such a taxing exersice, at least to me they are, I give my back Its own day.
mon. back-chins, deads, rows, sometimes shurgs
tues.chest
thurs.legs
fri. shoulder, arms

My deads look like this
135x6, 155x6 warmups
235x6
265x4-6
300x3-6
I keep the reps low and never go to failure on this exersice

great.. this is exactly what a looking for... thanks guys... I think dead lefts are a great compound movement.. I rarely see people do them.

Do you guys do bent leg, or stiff leg deads? what are the advantages, of each?

Stiff legged deads ar better for the hamstrings. Not so much a back exercise. I do both. Regulars on back days, and sldl's on leg days.

That 25 pound plate idea is awesome. Never thought of that. Thanks Punk!

Stiff legged work your hams and lower back more.

Bent legged works your quads and glutes more.

People rarely do them for the same reason they rarely do squats. It's a tough exercise.

Bulldog_10 If you find standing on the 25's uncomfortable another way of getting deeper is to use 35 pound plates instead of the 45's.

You might wanna post this question on the powerlifters board. They usually don't pyramid the weight. It's usually cycled. Pick a weight that you can do for 5 fairly easily, with good form. Every week add another 10lbs. Do this for 8 weeks. When the 8 weeks are over, start again with the original weight + 10lbs. You can cycle squats the same way, works good. In the beginning when the weights are light concentrate on your form, do not round your back!
Keeping in mind, this is for people that are looking to lift big weights not really BB's.
