The network was PISSED!!! They had no idea what stunt he was going to do. They had people in the audience that actually fainted.
After David collasped, they carried him backstage, went to check on the people in the audience and David disappeared. He never showed up again for any part of the show. They had no idea where he was until he called the next day.

i remember the first time i saw him. i was absolutely dumbfounded. i sat through the whole show without missing a minute of it. What's it called? david blaine's street magic? whatever, its almost impossible to get me to sit through any show besides the simpsons and this one did. cool stuff.

I thought the David Blaine street magic was cool, but this is absolute bullshit. Shows what kind of respect he has for his audience's intelligence thinking that they'll actually buy this crap - and some did.
I'd love to see the video though... hopefully someone will have it on kazaa.

What's entertaining about pretending to pull your own heart out? It's entertaining when someone does something OTHER PEOPLE CAN'T DO. I can rip out a fake heart, but I can't do amazing card tricks - that's why the latter is entertaining.

like the heart thing, bug deal - but if he either pulled that from his ass - or after tearing it form his chest made it disappear in his ass... now THAT is good magic. damn good.

it is obviously unbelievable that he can really do that but it's that fact that he did it totally out of the blue and made it look cool as shit. Making his hand disappear into his chest with the blood and all then passing out and making the network go to a sudden break. Now that was great entertainment.

ORIGINALLY I THOUGHT I'D TRY TO EXPLAIN TO YOU THAT HE WAS AN ENTERTAINER AND WHAT HE DOES WAS ENTERTAIN PEOPLE. AT WHICH TIME I REALIZED THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THEN I THOUGHT I'D TRY A DIFFERENT APPROACH AND TRY TO GET YOU TO REALIZE THAT YOU ARE NOT IN THE MAJORITY.

If you guys are really interested in this stuff, there are websites with messageboards like this that talk about magic and david blaine quite a bit. They tell how he does all his tricks and basically they are all really easy to do and youll say "oh thats how he does it" Also he's a fraud. When he does his shows on the street he has helpers that try to blend into the crowd. when he does the levitation for people, watch how adamant he is about getting them at the right angle and saying "stand right here in case i fall over" What he does is he gets the right angle so you cant see the front of his far foot. Then all he does is raise his close foot off the ground slowly and go up on the toe of his far foot and it looks lke he gets off the ground. A lot of magicians can do it. The thing that sucks about him is he gets the reaction of the people by doing this, then when they show him really levitate on tv and he really is off the ground because they use cables. Watch when hes on and when it really shows him come off the ground you wont see the people hes levitating for. He is however very good with card tricks, but trust me it can all be explained very easily. This guy is not the devil and hes nuthin that special. Wish i could do the stuff though.

Also, I don't know how performing magic makes someone a fraud.. was your heartbroken when you found out he wasn't really the devil and couldn't levitate? They aren't called magic TRICKS for nothin.. its all about slight of hand, altering the crowds focus, and special helpers.
My personal fav is resurrecting the fly. Catch a fly (smack one so it falls to the ground) and place it in the freezer. It won't kill it (usually). Then to resurrect it, hold it in your hand and blow on it gently. The heat from your breath will thaw the fly and revive it.. HOORAY! Go enjoy some dog poo, little one.

To me, the whole point of magic is a guy going up on stage and doing believable tricks that make me wonder "wow, how'd he do that?" When a guy rips out his own heart I know how he did it... he hid a fake heart somewhere, stuffed his hand in his shirt, squeezed the fake heart so that it'd bleed, then collapsed... ooooh magic. It's stupid to me.
Those several movie files of his tricks I downloaded from Grokster, however... really kicked ass.
