Yep, I always said cycling was dirty, back in the early 90's were fed dbol and said they were like vitamins. :(

One of these days they will figure out what Armstrong was on.

AP said:
COLORADO SPRINGS, United States (AFP) - US cyclist Stephen Alfred has received an eight-year ban after testing positive for a pair of banned performance-enhancing substances, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) announced.

Alfred, 39, tested positive for non-natural testosterone and for human chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) in separate tests that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) code considers one offense.

The elevated testosterone positive came in an out-of-competition random test last May 28 while the hCG positive came last June 10 at the Pan American Cycling Championships in Brazil.

A lifetime ban could have been imposed because Alfred had previously tested positive for the banned substance norandrosterone at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

But USADA ruled Friday that a reduction to eight years was justified because of the circumstances surrounding his first doping violation, for which Alfred had received a reduced suspension of six months.

Alfred's results since May 28 have been forfeited while his eight-year ban, effectively ending his career, began this past Tuesday, the day he accepted the sanction.

You really think Lance used performance enhancers?...LOL...I know it will ruffle feathers but in the case of Cycling where there is smoke there is undoubtedly fire.

I always have trouble understanding why an athlete will submit to a test he must know he's going to fail.

because they have to brother.....if they refuse to test, they automatically fail the test on the spot.....at least that's how it's done in the NCAA.....and the US Army.....and Marines....

so what if armstrong used a little something to help him out. 99% of the rest of the field was taking something also, those that were not you never will hear their names. Thats is what the public wants / pays to see. If he was on something he got away with it and made millions of $$$$. If I could I'd do the same thing

alcatraz, the military doesn't test for gear
yeah no shit sherlock....in those cases they would be testing just for rec drugs (marijuana, cocaine, barbs, narcs, etc). now the NCAA test for both rec drugs and AAS.

what i was trying to say is that if you refuse a test for most organizations, you'll fail the test on the spot and will face the same penalties and fines as if you had actually taken the test and failed it. peace,

I will say as an avid road cyclist(non-competitive of course, too big and bulky) and a reader for many years of Velo News and always following up on the net about bicycling, taking dbol like vitamins from a bicyclist stance makes no sense whatsoever. A lot of people in the sport were having a hard time figuring out why Landis came up positive for testosterone. Those kinds of AAS work against you when your in season and if used for long periods of time I guarantee you will not be riding a bike competitively for too much longer. You don't want weight and bulk in a sport like this as all reading this already should know. I think you heard some bullshit story about the dbol, but yes...bicycling is a very dirty sport and they're pretty high tech at getting through it unscathed. Unless shit like Operacion Puerto rears it's ugly head. Whoeer is familiar with this sting will know exactly what I'm talking about.

When we took it, that was off-season, leading up to mountain rides. Never on during the races though, and in 88-91 (my active years) that is what we were given. :(

I would not know squat about aas if it were not for my cycling coaches. About 6 years ago, many of us were interviewed for 20/20 or 60 Minutes (can't remember, I did not make the show on purpose) on this subject of US cycling and roids. IIRC, about half the people on the show name dbol specifically.
