When a package is inspected by customs do they open the package or just X-ray it?

the one(and only) seizure i had, they open the package, inspected the contents, took out what they wanted to use for their own cycle, and sent the non essentials on to me......................

When a package goes through customs they do one of four things.
1) Run drug dog by it and let it go through.
2)Inspect pacakge maybe even open. They will stamp inspected by customs.
3)Open and inspect removing what is not allowed(what they want) and inclose letter and send through.
4)Open and inspect let go through and either tag you or have goverment agency waiting for you(very rare if not obcenly large amount or if package contains hard core drugs(x, ketamine, ghb etc....
I have also heard that they just take package and send no notice to discourage this type of buying but that of course is just what I heard.

Of course customs can open any damn package they want.....thats not the issue! We all know this to be true!
The issue is what happens after customs opens the shipping box? Is the gear disguised to allow it to pass a hand inspection or has the source simply tape a box of test to the bottom of the shipping box for example. If it is the latter automatic seizure! Right?!!
Now back to my point....if the gear is properly disguised within the shipping box it is possible to have that box pass a customs hand inspection of the contents of that shipping box.

when im wrong i will admit im wrong. i guess i misread your post, as i thought you were just trying to point out that customs does not inpect every package. we all know this to be true, or none of us would receive anything. and i have to admit that i always wondered why my source always packed my stuff the way he did. now i know why. i always figured if they even opened it , it was a done deal as far as receiving anything.

Here is an anaolgy for you. What percent of people crossing the border at mexico or Canada get inspected?
Like at the border, inspections are triggered by something out of the ordinary. A persons appearance associates ect. In the postal buisness that could mean a country, a leaky box, a box having no markings indicating whats enclosed. The list goes on and on.
In the end its really a numbers game any box can get pulled at any time for a hand inspection. I seen one address receive 6 boxes within one month while another address could not get either of 2 boxes during the same period. Excactly same packing was used departing form the same country.
