Do you believe in dinosaurs? If so, what was God's purpose for them?

Also, in recent years the church has acknowledged evolution as a scientific fact. Whats your view?

Funny how the Bible never discusses dinosaurs, but yet evidence of them has been dug up (literally) for centuries.

1)yes
2)dont know
3)no church based on the bible would acknowledge evolution as a scientific fact, because we believe in creation.

I'm not curling, but I wanted to submit my answers too.

Thanks I appreciate it. Sorry, this thread is not only directed towards curling. Anyone with views is encouraged to reply.

The devil created the Dinosaurs so that people would question the bible and the word of the lord!

That charlatan!

Not all church goers believe in a form of creation that iscontradictory to evolution. This really depends upon how literally you interpret the Bible.

I'm not sure how it is contradictory. I could understand how Darwin's leap from monkey to man was a bit far fetched, but evolution as a whole doesn't seem to contradict anything in the bible. And creationism has about as much credibility as the big bang theory.

Link please.

"Fresh knowledge leads to recognition of the theory of evolution as more than just a hypothesis."

-Pope John Paul II, 10/23/1996 during a speech at the Pontifical Academy of Sciences.

Im sure that if you search the New York Times archive on this topic on that date youll find something. I remember reading a big article about it back then.

You know I don't know about dinosaurs for sure. They might have existed and might not of. I guess I don't trust a bunch of this science where they find one or two bones and then make a whole dinosaur out of it. I mean I would lean more to believing they existed if they found the whole skeleton which I don't think they have have they?

LMAO

Curling, whilst it is true that sometimes whole skeletons are reconstructed from only a few bones, whole skeletons have been found.

Have you seen one? And which dinosaurs had the full bone skeleton?

A lot.

What was God's intended purpose for the dinosaurs?

Job 40:15-19

15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

Is this verse a reference to dinosaurs? I don't know, nobody does but that does sound like a big damn animal to me. The book of job was written about 2000 years before the birth of Christ.

The elephant.

an elephants tail is very small and insignificant relative to it's size. in that verse the "behemoths" tail moves like a tree (cedar). the image that comes to my mind is a brontosaurus's large tail swinging slowly back and forth.

The bible is too much interpretation. Somewhere in genesis it talks about "beasts walking the earth" - could be interpreted as dinosaurs (highly unlikely as man, who wrote the bible, was not around at the time of the dinosaurs).

Most of the bibles stories were taken from sumerian, assyrian and babylonian texts.

i wholeheartedly agree, the bible is def. open to interpretation.

Elephants....yeah...elephants.

LMAO.

You could interpret this to represent any large land animal.

curling, every time I think you've hit the heights of hilarity you come up with a new one. You fervently believe in your 'faith', good for you. However, do not let that faith cloud your judgement to the point where you are making statements so ridiculous as to be laughable.

There have been thousands of full skeletons of dinosaur species pulled from the earth and literally millions of pieces of evidence that they existed. To deny this as fact is as ridiculous to most people as someone denying the existence of God is to you. The major difference there is that there is no evidence that God exists........ :) Sorry, couldn't resist.
