i had a friend who does this on a semi pro level tell me you order all three of your reports online and you deny each claim on there... then, if the company doesnt provide proof in 30 days it is automatically taken off of your credit history....

true? have you done this?

he also said even if they show proof, you begin writing letters because often they disregard the letter and poof, it comes off your credit still.

myth.

the credit agencies work hand in hand with the credit card bureaus. None of them are stupid, and are quite adept at stopping and blocking all loopholes.

It's actually a bitch to get stuff taken off. Even their own employees have to have special fort knox permission to take stuff off people's records.

The only place it's kinda easy is if you were a victim of id theft or credit card fraud. But you have to show all kinds of police/court documentation. And they do verify it usually.

It's true.. sometimes even when something is taken off.. there is a note that it was there and then taken off...

credit.. is a bitch..

I would start there, but do not be surprised if nothing comes off. Here are the numbers to request your free credit report:

This should be done annually to make sure no incorrect information gets included on your report, not to mention the issue of identity theft.

Equifax: 800-685-1111

Experian: 800-583-4080

TransUnion wants all request to be handled via mail.

Here is a good board to refer to:

I do know someone that has paid a person (Not sure if he is an attorney or what) to handle this for him. The cost was close to $800, but this person was able to remove a lot incl a foreclosure from my friend's credit report. ........the creditors have to report or even answer to inquiries a certain way. Falling short can result in getting things wiped off your report.

I am not sure exactly how this is done.....but I have heard good stories from those opting to use crediting sources to help with this.

Not sure - My friends credit was horrible - You need to just get all the reports and take the time to go through everything piece by piece
