Creatine

I was considering taking creatine again. I took it a LONG time ago, when it first came out and it was a full weeks pay check for a month supply :). I remember it working pretty well. I wasn't sure if it was bad or not back then, but I didn't use it very long for some reason.

I just started a 5x5 programs and I thought that it would be the perfect time to take creatine. The only problem is that I have read many opposing things about creatine. Some say that the weight gain is pure water and when you stop taking creatine, you will lose all the str/weight and it doesn't really help you build muscle mass. I think that if you it allows you to lift heavier weights, then how can you not build more muscle mass then without it. I would just hate to use creatine, and it 6 weeks, if I stopped, to lose strength and weight. Any opinions on it??

Creatine works dude. Yeah it does push more water into your muscles which will lead to water weight gain, but that's expected. Creatine does a lot of cool stuff. It will increase satellite cell activity which is cool, and increases your ATP stores (energy source). I mean you're not going to get huge gains from it like steroids, but you're not going to really lose gains either. Granted of course if you keep on working out. Good Luck!

Creatine monohydrate does'nt work for everyone, though. I 'm one of those <20% creatine non-responders. It's worth a try, but if it's not working for you, you need to give some of those 2nd gen. creatine products a try. I've had success with both di-Creatine Malate and, better still, Creatine Ethyl Ester (CEE)

dgatehouse is right....
creatine works like this... if you want mass you'll need to break muscle fibers by hypertrophy, how you do this? by lifting more weight you'll be reaching the point of giving your muscles growth opportunity. Creatine gives you strenght and helps you by intramuscular water to allow muscles to recover and keep the size you are searching... if you take it for prolonged time (not just a couple of weeks) and keep your diet with the necessary sources of food to allow recovery what will happen is that your muscles will look fuller but not bloated... so that when you end with creatine your muscle gains are permanent.
