Crazy dreams

Melatonin and ZMA are usually associated with crazy dreams though neither of them do much for me

Do you know some stuff (supplements, OTC drugs, food, nootropics) that promote some weird and vivid dreams ?

LSD works wonders for dreams :-)...even when you are awake! Why in the hell are you worried about dreams??? Live crazy and wild, don't dream it!

I have from time to time some crazy dreams, some stuff that even my imagination could never come up with (and that would never happen in my shitty life)

And it's so pleasant that I'd like to experiment it again w/o the side effects of LSD and other drugs

I am sorry your life is shitty. Been there...many times, but everytime I go there, I realize (eventually) that it is me that is directing my life. The last time I felt like that, I owned a motorcycle by that afternoon! That certainly put some 'rush' into my life, and it spilled over into the rest of my life. And yes, I eventually went down on the damned thing and broke my hip...but I would do it again, for I, too, cannot abide a boring life. Add zip with moderate danger (to yourself, not others). Change your routine. Work out...that produces great endomorphines that really can enhance everything around you. Change your schedule, quite your job and get one you love...do anything that will get your life to the 'exciting' point. If it is others who are dragging you down, re-think your position. Of course, if you are married and have a family, trust that they will eventually leave home (perhaps with you packing their bags), but life will return IF you go about making it return. No one, either with a pill or other means, will give you a life if you cannot make one yourself. Are you in Love??? Try it! Works wonders.
A few years ago, I went through the "no Potato, no bread" routine. I had the craziest dreams about potatos you could imagine...for about 3 weeks. I suppose if I gave up sex, I would have crazy dreams about that...but that ain't gonna happen, I would much rather do than dream :-)

Actually I should have said "meaningless" rather than "shitty"

Nevertheless, thanks for your answer !

I agree with you about lthe lifting-endorphins-serotonin well being effect : that my best anti depressant (BTW, that's a great new thread idea)

As for love, well I guess it's what is missing here

And to go back to the original topic, that's a reason why I enjoy those weird dreams : they enable you to experience some amazing stuff, way more exciting than the ordinary day-to-day life (and w/o any side effect, dependency, etc)

I am 63 years old. I have had a very charmed life, filled with danger and excitement, and love, and it is just starting. But, I never found love when I wasn't already having a great life! Sort of a catch 22. Now, if you want to experience true excitement without any danger, to to Paramount or Universal and take some Virtual rides...fantastic, will get your hormones surging! And, for heaven's sake, give your life some meaning...different for each of us. Set your mind to it and it will be a piece of cake. Unfortunately for me, I equate 'boring' with 'shitty'. I cannot deal well with everyday the same and nothing to look forward to. So I made sure I have something to look forward to...plans...they may not happen, but the planning is half the fun. And I love serendipity....anyway the wind blows, spur of the moment, get in the car and go somewhere ridiculous and stay a few days. Helps to pick up someone along the way and have a wild and crazzzy time! There is ALWAYS someone out there to share the Crazies with, for there are a lot....A LOT .... of lonely people out there. It doesn't have to be true love to be exciting...hell, love for an hour is easy to arrange in your head, and love for a day is great...a the benefits and none of the responsibilities that follow. Not a bad deal in lieu of the real thing.

Your post makes me think of the awsome movie "Easy Rider" :)

Its the melatonin, the ZMA should have no effect on dreams.

I can't figure out whether melatonin really "works" or if it's the placebo effect

It sometimes seems to help a few nights while it can be totally useless for weeks

Quality melatonin should have a consistent effect. How are your doses?

I tried 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 3 and 4.5mg and it seems the lowest doses work just as good as larger ones

I just tried once 2*3mg and it looked like it kept me awake

Interesting, I only take 3mg and I can time about 20 minutes everytime and I'm out. The dreams can vary by the circadian sleep cycle you are achieving (no one really knows why).

Check this read out.

Great link

Thx !

BTW, do you take melatonin on an empty stomach ?
I usually have a late shake before bed and I'm wondering if it interferes w/ melatonin

anthax

a night of martinis
get home late and ate leftover fried chicken i made earlier in the day
(fried in olive oil, marinated 3 days in tons of emeril's essence)

Is it the Martinis or Emeril's essence ?

'cause Emeril's essence = (for the original stuff) salt, paprika, black pepper, granulated garlic, onion powder, other spices.

Multi-B complex vitamin does it to me. Not sure on the specific one; I've read (and forgotten) that certain B-vitamins help you sleep, while others disturb your sleep cycle.

Melatonin sure as hell gave me weird dreams when I was talking it.

All I take now is some herbal sleep stuff (Swiss brand, "Sleep Well") that has the typical mixture of valarian, etc. I don't seem to have "weird" dreams per se, but I seem to remember them more clearly in the morning.

i'm sure it was the essence
has sassafrass in it
and martinis have never done that to me before

Macro,

Do you know the mechanism of action of these two compounds? Curious about the medical literature.
Thanks.

neurogenex (several of its constituents) and idebenone both increase neuronal blood flow as well as having a host of other activities.

as to the exact cause of the vivid dreams, likely due to increased activity, receptor activation and neurotransmitter availability.

Thanks Macro, I am trying to learn more about this area and take a number of the compounds individually. I have read elsewhere however that phosphatidylcholine is an important component, not-listed in ingredients, which is the precursor to acetylocholine? Your thoughts.

it contains choline dihydrogen citrate a better precursor of acetyl-choline
