Guys , Blackmores have a Cranberry product which claims to have 10,000mg / Tablet....is this correct

Below is the breakdown

Active Ingredients Per Tablet
Vaccinium macrocarpon (Cranberry) juice concentrate
equivalent to fresh fruit 10,000mg
Arctostaphylos uva ursi (Uva ursi) extract
equivalent to dry leaf 500 mg
standardised to contain arbutin 25 mg
Vitamin C 100 mg
derived from Sodium ascorbate 112.5 mg

Cranberry is an incredibly safe supplement, as there are no documented side effects resulting from its use. In fact, it actually increases the antibacterial effect when taking antibiotics. At very large quantities, however, (3-4 liters per day), cranberry juice can cause diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms, but very few people would ever attempt to drink this much. For those prone to kidney stones, it is important to note that cranberries contain oxalates, the compounds that form the stones. However, limiting intake to one liter of cranberry juice per day minimizes the risk of forming stones.

It is entirely untrue that there are no documented side effects to Cranberry extract.

Quite the contrary, moderate/large doses have been proven to cause/increase kidney stones which is alluded to.

Keep dosages to recommended leves. Certainly don't do 10g's a day.

Cranberry juice and cranberry extract does help reduce existing bacteria levels in the kidneys and they don't eliminate it. The published studies don't show any other kidney benefit. Juice does seem to be more effective than extract.
