I have had an addiction to sugar free gum in the past. I have also known other people (my cousin, my sister) with similar obsessive personalities to have the same problem. My sister even talked to her therapist and nutritionist about it and it is a real condition i guess. ocd. i would chew through 3 plenti-packs of extra sugar free gum per work day (less than 8 hours). I would feind for my gum when I didnt have it. very obsessive. I eventually got over it. Sometimes the sweeteners did make my tummy hurt too.

how did you beat it?
It wasnt someting I intentionally set out to overcome. I supposed I just lost interest gradually and turned my interests to other compulsions/obsessions. Now it's floss and interdental stimulators. I cant stop messing with my teeth/gums.

Interdental Stimulators
This dental aid may be found attached to the end of your toothbrush or on a separate implement. It is cone shaped and made of flexible rubber.

The purpose of the rubber tip is to:
Remove bits of food and plaque you may have missed with your brush
To stimulate and exercise your gums
To help reshape the gums after periodontal disease
Your dental hygienist will teach you how to use this dental aid.

The ones I use are bought at Ride Aid and they look like toothpicks but they are shaped somewhat differently.
