counting fat calories

Manu

New member
How do you count the fat from oils like flax seed?
I'm not sure how to do it. I could do in a "sensible" manner.
Roughly how much a tablespoon is about in grams?
Is there any equivalence bettwen grams and mls?
.....

Thanks

A ml of oil is close enough to a gram. There are 14g of fat in 15ml of oil (1 tablespoon)

I ask this also because the tablespoons i have come in different shapes and different capacities, and i think i am making big errors in counting fat intake.
That ratio mls/grams is useful .

Thank you MS

"A ml of oil is close enough to a gram. There are 14g of fat in 15ml of oil (1 tablespoon)"

9 X 14 = 126 calories

rather 126....

I think this mathematic is good...

right,

oil is less dense than water
so 1 ml < 1 g

A tablespoon is not the silver spoon in your drawer that is commonly referred to as a "tablespoon". A true tablespoon is a standard measurement and there won't be any difference in any that you buy. For reference a tablespoon is 1/4th of a quarter cup. So 1 cup = 16 tbsp.

Thanks vageta.

Anthrax, it isn't the opposite? oil is more dense and by that fact it "fills less" with the same weight....

Manu,

Oil floats on water. (& Alcohol floats on oil)

=> The oil (& Alcohol) is less dense than the water
