cool thing happened at lunch today

I'm active duty military stationed in Florida. I had to travel to Orlando today to meet with some representatives from the Orange Co Sheriff's Office. All 13 of us broke for lunch at a local steak house. I was wearing BDUs and they were in uniform. When we walked in the restaurant a women customer called one of us over. She said that she wanted to buy our lunch for us. We protested, telling her that that were too many of us. She insisted and began to tear up. She said she really appreciated all that we do and that this was her way to pay us back. I've never had anything like this happen to me before, I just thought it was really cool.

That's really nice! Do you ever feel appreciated for your service, or was this teh first time you received a gesture like that? I'm in Canada so I don't have any firsthand experience with how people treat military personnel

That's the first time anything like that has happened to me since I've been in. I don't have too much interaction w/ the general public. I do work a lot w/ federal and local law enforcement and they are usually appreciative.
