What are some of the mistakes you guys have mad in compitition? If you mention them here, we dont have to make them ourselves lol.

When I was putting super glue on my trunks to keep them in place and got them stuck together in a wedgie...ouch...

Wait...ummm...that wasn't me...lol

Forgot one transitional move in my routine - had to quickly throw in a side-chest. Apparently no-one noticed, whew!

Never done a comp. myself, but from what I've seen, not practicing your posing routine until you can perform it flawlessly and without hesitation seems to be one of the biggest mistakes.

for what it's worth - I don't understand when plers don't train all three lifts on the same day - at least in the last couple weeks precontest

I agree. Benching after squatting as well as pulling after both...is very hard.

Corn & B True:

You answered your own question... Many powerlifters don't train all three, core lifts on the same day because it is very difficult. I don't disagree with either of you about hitting all three lifts in the same training session because this does simulate a meet. But, many powerlifters break up the three, core lifts when training much like many bodybuilders break up their muscle groups because it allows one to focus on a particular movement. Great powerlifters and bodybuilders were developed using both the split and total-body training. I have trained all three core movements in a single training session in the past and it can be a very humbling experience. It is an excellent question, Corn, and deserves some serious thought by all strength athlete competitors. B True is a prime example of someone who has made tremendous gains by training his entire body in a single workout. IMHO.

the threeday w/o does a pretty good job of hitting the major groups within a w/o - and it does humble and it packs on strength and size

Screwball: I do all of my events on one day...because that is the way that it is at a contest. Doing the conan's wheel after deadlifts and the stones is a lot different than doing them before...lol. I would probably grow more on them if I broke them up but that wouldn't do me a lot of good on contest day.

Also note the events test my strength and aren't the same as doing lifting in the gym.

fold - that ,akes sense.

So would pl'ers switching to thr three main lifts during the de-loding phase as some movements are dropped.

I think that doing the 3 lifts, to the extreme, could be counter productive...can be too hard on the body...

I do think that it would be important to do a "pre-meet" meet at your gym a month or so before the contest...

...you think that a meet day once every 5-7 days, say three weeks out - and no with 100Max weights at the beginning - would take more out of you than doing the regular three days per week training?

I don't think it works that way. As a contest approaches...you need to spend more time on the extras and bringing up the volume on each lift to be good at it. I don't think that doing the 3 lifts like that would be good.

Remember to train the bench press you need to:
do speed work
do maximum effort tricep work
tricep volume work
rotator work
lat work
etc.....

It would take you HOURS upon HOURS to do a full 3 lift meet and do all of this...

not taking enough time to rest before matches and games, came in flat. Eating a dozen eggs and a lb of bacon 2 hours before I had to pitch. I played like shit for two innnings and then I threw up in the dugout, after though I played reall well and going 3-4 at bat....

geeez..... i could go on for ever.

but here is numero uno!!!!!!!....... when you back stage pumping up....... stay looking at the floor untill your done onstage...... it really sucks to watch a guy pose who spent too much time checking out the fitness girls backstage and then walk out there looking a little "too happy" to be in posing trunks.

for my first bb contest ever...... i heard about this think called decarbing...... so i gave it a shot....... i had 5-6 chicken breast a day for 3 weeks...... then the day before the show...... i had 3 rice cakes 1 potatoe and 1 cup of rice to "carb up"

oh yeah........ i put my posing oil on in the morning so that i wouldnt have to deal with it in the morning....... then in my half asleep stupor....... i rubbed some preperation h on my stomach....... when i woke up the next morning....... i looked great, exept for the big white bullzeye in the middle of my tanned body.

oh well....... they made my family and friends laugh.
