Water load? Mike Francois told me you should gradully decrease your water and sodium the week before the contest. If the contest is on Saturday, the monday before you should be drinking atleast 2 gallons of water a day, and getting 2 teaspoons of sodium total. So on Monday drink 2 gallons and 2 teaspoons of salt. Tuesday 1 1/2 gallons of water and 1 1/2 teasspoons of salt. Wednesday 1 gallon of water and 1 teaspoon of salt, Thursday 1/2 gallon of water and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, Friday 1/4 gallon of water and minimal salt. On Friday, stop drinking water around 6-8 PM. Saturday, theday of the contest, you should only be drinking 4 oz. of water per meal. By the time your body realizes you're dehydrated, the contest is over.
Note: the sodium consumed is for the whole day, i.e. SALT YOUR FOOD.
Mike said this worked well for him after the IFBB started testing for diuretics.
