Computer question????

Maybe it's corrupt? I haven't defragged in a long time but isn't there an option to click on to repair while defragging?

Might have been open by some proggy, might have been tagged as a "system" file, or ToyOS might not have been interested enough in doing its job. Got to have enough space in one place for it, too, so if you ever fall under 15% free, defrag will basically start asking if you want fries with that (i.e. forget that it's in the computer bidness).

Maybe this will help.

It said:

Fragments File size Files that did not defragment
2 1,083 KB \WINNT\ShelllconCache

Thanks guys Pamela

Could be a bad sector on the hard drive.

I lean towards this but could be a few different things. When things get too buggy I just grab my windows disc and reinstall although it's been several months since I've needed to do that.

Chances are the file was in use, either by the system or the user.

Remove all programs from your start-up folder, reboot and try it again.

ShellIconCache = a system file. And it's only in two big chunks. This is NOT worth worrying about. It's been a long time since you could make an entire Windows disk turn solid green in the defrag screen.
