Computer keeps restarting by itself

Someone have any idea what's going on? Almost everyday lately at home, my computer will restart itself right while I'm in the middle of doing something. (Almost guaranteed to shut off if I try to watch a video on youtube) Then it just says "your computer has recovered from a serious error.....send error report."

I need a laptop for work but in the mean time I don't want to lose anything on this computer or have it die on me. Any ideas on what I can do? I have Windows xp and a Compac presario7000us. Thanks in advance.

over heating??? turn off the hibernation

there is a virus that does that...but it gives a very specific message, with a countdown before shutdown...forget the name though

do a virus scan, and check the temp of the computer. if that aint the problem you may have some bad hardware, might be bad RAM

that shit happened to my laptop for a bit before the entire mother fucker crashed on me and i had to format,id save everything you can just incase then pay someone to look at it
