i have insightbb.com service. i currently rent a 3com homeconnect model 3CR29223.

However, i can buy a 3CR29223 for $90.

But, i can also get a motorola SURFboard SB2100D for $50, or a 3com officeconnect 3CR29210 for $55.

I called the ISP and they said the only requirement was that the cable modem be docsis complaint, and all 3 are.

my question is, should i stay with the tried & true homeconnect, or save $40 and get a motorola or officeconnect. Even thought insightbb said that docsis complaince was the only requirement, i'm not sure if the other two are as good as the homeconnect model.

long story short muthafukka's, can i use an officeconnect cable modem at home? is DOCSIS compliance the only feature that i need for the modem to work?

and could i use an officeconnect on windows XP pro

haha ok let me answer one at a time, i have the motorola surf and it works excellant, if its cheaper why not go with it if the only requirement is met. Yes you could use an officeconnect cable modem at home if you were so inclined, my question would be why do you need to do this? and yes if its stated that DOCSIS is the only requirement for compliency then you should really have no problems as far as connection goes....
