Dose any one have any expiriance with coming of this so called none addictive drug ,Ive been on this stuff for just over three years 30mg ed and was told it was not addictive .I was percribed it for panic attacks and anxitety witch i no longer suffer from ,the only problem is coming off ,i have managed to cut down to 20mg ed but this was not easy night sweats nightmares migrains and was very aggressive and irratable for around 2 weeks before came back to normal. paxil has all but killed my sex drive and I want to come of compleatly but I live with my girlfriend and we have a 2 year old that trys my paitents at the best of times, dose any one have any advice to help me come of this shit without recking my life . any help info is much appricated ;)

paxil is for short term use...a year tops!! Coming off is going to be hard...do it slowly. are you doing this under a doctors oreders? why were you on it so long? ITs going to be really tough, im not going to lie to you. Good luck...take it slow and easy.

Coming off an SSRI like Paxil, you NEED to be monitored by your family doctor; chances are, he/she will prescribe another med while in the transition phase.

It's definetly not something you want to try to do yourself. The withdrawl side effects, as you have found out, are not pleasant at all.

From what I know, Paxil is an old school SSRI....many have had great success, including myself, with something like Effexor, an SNRI.

i take paxil at 37.5mg since april 04,for anxiety.my dr.never said it was for shorterm use,he says people stay on ot as long as they have problems, which could be years.he said xanax is shorterm.to help you go to yahoo groups.the group name is friends of paxil.you can join in like 5 seconds.they have discussion boards like here on paxil.i belong there mysefl.also try a search on yahoo for paxil.there are others boards specifically for coming off paxil.give it a shot,i hope this hepls, good luck.you can email me at [email protected] if i can help you anymore, iam no dr.but here if you need help.

Many thanks for those concernen
Bigsteve12-Iv been on this stuff for over three years and it runs my life if i forget my repeat it means waitng a week to get some more NOT GOOD! its killed my sex drive its bad for your liver its killed my apittite , The doctor recons that Im not addicted and its just my body missing the substance?wtf that is addiction isnt it? well I am under doctors supervision ,I told him what i am doing and he wants to see me every2 months for a review to see if i still want to come off completly,As for replacing the paxil for something else seems pointless to swap one addiction for another .
Atthe end of this month I hope to cut down to 15 or even 10 mged over two more months then cut down to 5mg and then totaly come off(hopefully)
Lovemoney- thanks for the support if i were you i would get the paxil dose lowerd if possable or change meds because paxil withdrawl is horrable
once again thanks to those who give shit ;)

I have experience with quitting Paxil. I experienced flu-like symptoms for nearly a month. You MUST taper the dosage down. I had to taper very slowly. I kept cutting back by 5 mg every week. The last 2 weeks I was taking 2.5 mg per day. This required cutting a 10mg tablet into 4 quarters. They make a liquid form of it that can be used to make even smaller doses. It's rough to quit but it can be done. My problem was that my panic attacks returned when I quit so I had to go back on. The drug is a bitch with side effects. Anytime my dose is increased my sex drive goes down to nothing for about 2 months. It also takes me forever to ejaculate. I've gone over 45 minutes in the sack! At least I'm not a "2 pump chump" in bed! LOL

I came off after 3 years. It can be done and its not easy. Just take your time and wean your self off very slowly. The bad part might be once youve stopped taking you realize you still need something. Try others that dont give you unwanted side effects. Celexa seems to work good for me.

bro......as we speak i'm going through SSRI withdrawl from zoloft. i was on 100mg per day for alittle over a year. i started experiencing sexual dysfunction on all levels (unable to cum, get excited and recently hard)

I have been spinning and feeling dizzy as i went to 50mg and now i'm starting to settle in at 50mg. i'll go to 25mg next week and then off. i still am having sexual dysfunction

It seems that sex drive problems are common with ssri medication, from the research ive done iv found out that paroxatine causes an increase in prolactin(sound familiair, deca dick? :worried: ) but I to have the same problem in the sack I just cant get finnished and my old man needs a bit of help to stand up too ,
fast twichtch fibre my grirlfriend used to think it was great but now I dont have much sexual inrest, even on a low dose test cycle!
Oxandrin 100mg !thats a lot I hope it gose smoother for you that it is for me.
How can the doctors say that is not adictive when it clearly is!
k to thoses who have been there ore going through it.

i quit paxil after taking it for 7-8 weeks and i did not taper off. Do not do that, it was a terrible 5-6 weeks of vivd nightmares, electrical shocks in my head, feeling like i was going crazy and about to pass out all day. The good news is that it gets better day by day and soon you will be off completly

Yikes! I feel your pain. I have experienced the Paxil withdrawal. The trick is to do it very slowly...and by slowly I mean over a period of 6months to one year. You can do it faster then that, but ask your doctor to prescribe you some Valium, and be careful not to get addicted to that also. Good luck.
