it seemed to be advertised as a scary movie... it was more of an action/drama... with some suspense. VERY predictable and it was one of those flicks where the characters do the stupidest shit and you are constantly asking... "wtf would you do that when he's got a goddamn hammer and he's chasing you?"

The redneck guy owned the house. Dennis Quaids character bought the house to get out of the city for his family. Steven Dorff{redneck guy} had killed his wife and kids and buried them on the property. He wanted the house back. Bad dialogue and predictable scenes ensue. Movie over. No refund.
