Clomid - staying on it full time?

Approaching 40 - I am considering using 50mg clomid on a daily basis as a theraputic agent. The only times this amount wil change is during a cycle (no clomid) and coming off (typical dosing scheme).

All searches have turned up nothing by way of users posting about using clomid in this way, but I remember reading where many people dose on a daily basis for it's theraputic value.

Any assistance appreciated

That is something that has to be entirely derived from anecdotal experience or opinion (I doubt your MD has used clomid for such purposes on himself), because there have been controlled studies of men using clomid for up to a year exhibiting no ill effects. It may very well have some downregulation resulting from extended usage, but right now, there is nothing that indicates this.

I would use (and I do) use clomid during cycles as well, because it helps keep my cholesterol levels in check (something you really want to do when using ox/winny especially)

Do you have link(s) to these studies concerning long term clomid therapy in men?

what was reason for you to go on pemanent usage?

Have you been able to see improvment from prolonged dosing?

Yes you can take it for extended periods of time but you have to realize that you are only going to get so much out of it and the rest is going to be wasted.The HPTA is feedback loop-after a certain point your body is no longer "tricked".

I've got involved in a debate over this on another board with a guy who insists that clomid during a cycle helps maintain his natural test production and testicle size. I disagree but neither of us has any studies. Does anybody know of any?

The pituitary will eventually become less and less responsive to gonadotropin-releasing-hormone if clomid is used for extended periods.It is better suited for short bursts with periods of off time in between.

I wouldn't stay on it.

You body will build a tolerance to LH and then It won't work when you need it to. I take 50mg/day throughout my cycle (if needed). you should know the post cycle dosing... I don't take it longer then 2 weeks post cycle.
