Classic fight on right now Foreman vs. Ali...

I've seen it about 30 times. I know the whole fight by heart. And I still get the chills everytime the crowd starts roaring when it ends. That and Manila were the two greatest fights of all time.

Indeed he was. Sad to see him the way he is now.

"God gave me this disease to remind me he is number one. Not me."

yea but his mind is still sharp. he was the greatest in the ring and now he can show off his intellectual prowess. its only fitting.

I think so too. He said the whole fighting in the ring was so he could be heard and get his ideas across and do good. In the 80's he did a huge tour for Carter to gather support for fighting Communism.

I have the tape, "The Rumble in the Jungle" and I highly recommend it. Awesome stuff. On the tape, Foreman was being interviewed during his comeback and I'll never forget how confident he sounded when he said, "If I get the opportunity I'm gonna be heavyweight champ again." Everyone thought he was crazy. But, he did it at 45 years of age and I have the tape of that fight too. Awesome.

Yeah I have that on tape too. I also remember when he had this conversation with a reporter before the fight:

Reporter: "So what will you do if you lose?"

Foreman: "Excuse me?"

Reporter: " Uhmmm uhh what will you do before you lose?"

Foreman: "Excuse me?"

ali and foreman remind me of arnold and lou. one so dynamic and charismatic and the other one quite opposite.

That was the old Foreman. The George Foreman of today is very dynamic and charismatic.

Yes he took time off and 'found himself' then he came back and won the Heavywieght Championship of the world at a ripe age. Trainer for that comeback was Angelo Dundee, trainer of Ali.

I don't know that that feat will ever be duplicated. George was one of a kind, the most powerful puncher with the highest KO ratio of all time. Only someone like that could pull it off.

I think Holyfield is hanging around trying to break George's record but I don't think he has a prayer. He was great due to his superior speed and counter punching. He can't get that back and he doesn't have the big punch like George.
