Cottage cheese may or may not be CKD-friendly - it depends on the brand. You don't want more than 5 or 6 grams of carbs per meal, and most cottage cheeses have about that much per serving, on top of a lot of potentially gluconeogenic protein.
Ricotta cheese has a similar texture to cottage cheese, except with more fat and less carbs.
