This happened last night. Sorry it is so long but the details needed to written.
For the past several weeks we have been getting prank phone calls as late as 1:00 am - 2:00 am and the kids were kind of disrespectful and all. These kids are in my daughters class at Jr. High and my wife also teaches there. They use the calling feature where you can't use call return to find out the number they are calling from.
So last night at about 11:05 pm, as I was sitting at my computer which is only about 10 feet from our front door, something hit the side of my house at the front door. It startled me because the only ones at home were me and my wife and she was upstairs on the other computer. I looked out the front door and didn't see anything and I called up to my wife and asked her if she had dropped something and she said no but she heard the noise.
I opened the front door and walked out onto the porch looking for an object that might have caused the noise and I didn't see anything. I walked back inside and then decided to walk out to the walkway that is in front of our house at the road and look down the street. I could barley make out that two people were walking away from my direction and they were about three houses down.
I ran back inside and grabbed my wallet and car keys and raced out the door. I jumped into the car and sped off in their direction. When I got down there where I saw them, I couldn't find anyone. So I went another 200 yards down the road and turned around. As I was coming back towards my house, I noticed two teenagers about the same age as my daughter and I slammed on the brakes and pulled over.
One of the boys took off running and ran about 20 yards away while the other one just stood there with eyes as big as saucers. I jumped out and was yelling and pointing, "Who hit my house?" "Which one of you did it?" "Who hit my house with something?" The one that didn't run was stuttering and stammering, "No sir no sir, we didn't do anything." "I promise we didn't do anything." I am sure he had shit in his pants and he was shaking so bad.
I kept accusing them and they were denying it and they said they hadn't even been close to my house. I decided to give them a break and I apologized and told them they didn't need to be out that late at night, blah, blah, blah. Before I left, I asked them their name and they told me and I knew their parents.
After telling this to my wife, she said I needed to call their parents and see if they knew their kids were out that late at night. I finally decided to call one of them and they weren't at home. I then called the other kid's parents and his mother answered. I explained what happened and told her I wasn't accusing them of doing anything but it was not safe for her kids to be out late at night like that. She agreed and thanked me. She told me her kids were staying with their friends which is kind of near me.
Turns out there were five kids and when they saw me come out of my house, three of them took off and never slowed down. The two that I stopped, called me this morning and apologized to me and said they had come to my front door and knocked on the door with one hard knock and took off. They were very sorry and kept apologizing and I told them basically that there was no harm to us or the house but they needed to be more careful because next time the did something like that, the homeowner might not be very forgiving and they might get hurt. They thanked me for being forgiving and promised it wouldn't happen again.
The mother I talked to was very supportive of me and it just so happened that as I was talking to her, the kids walked through the door at her house and I believe she busted them good.
I've never seen kids as upset and scared as they were last night when I pulled over. It was actually kind of funny and I wanted to laugh but I also wanted to put a good scare in them. I think it worked.
