Casavant, do you know anything about Lexapro? I just got back from my therapist, and he put me on this med to take the place of the Celexa I used to be on. Have you tried it? Does it even you out?

As far as I'm concerned it is the bomb! It's really helping me out.
I was on Paxil and that just wasn't working too well.
Then I switched to 20mg ED Lexapro and felt an immediate boost.
Kinda makes me not care as much about the things in life that make me dissatisfied.
It worked best with Remeron or Trazodone at night but I got bad sides with those.
I might up the dosage next time, I could use a little more mood elevation. I think I might be adapting to it.
Oh yeah I have gotten little to none of the sexual side for which SSRUIs are famous.

Cool, thanks Lummy. That's what the doc said, that I may not have the sides like Celexa and Welbutrin. I should be able to sleep and blow a load as usual, although not necessarily in that order. Will see how it works out.

Depression, I think. I have been having some disturbing mood swings, and I need to even things out. 3 years ago, he had me on Welbutrin and Celexa, then went off of them because I was "better". Now the mood swings are back, and I want to nip it in the bud. He is also considering group therapy. Will see how that goes too.

Lexapro is basically half of celexa. Every chemical has a Levo (left) and Dextro (right) isomer. Celexa is both. However in clinical trials it was shown that only half of the chemical is responsible for it's antidepressant effects. They isolated the isomer responsible (I believe it was the Levo although it could be the other way around) and created Lexapro.
Lex is supposed to be a very clean and effective antidepressant. Lacking many of the sides that Celexa had. Good Luck!

I'm on Lexapro for PMS, it works, it evens me out. The first month I was afraid I was pregnant because I had no PMS. Not to mention my sex drive has gone through the roof, everyone is happy!

Lexapro is basically a newer version of Celexa. It's claim to fame is that 10 mg of Lexapro is as efficient as 40 mg of Celexa but with lower side-effects. And, it supposedly kicks in faster than Celexa.
