car people... questions about modding my eclipse

was thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood and possibly new seats and exhaust... what are some other ways i can make my car faster?

Getting a differant car would help..hehe j/k personally I think Eclipse's are chick cars but anywhoo. No offense to you-just my taste- what year is it? If it is an older model they can be made quite fast. What have you done so far? 1st thing you should do is intake/exhaust, lighter rims with low profile tires- then worry about weight reduction. Honestly it is gonna be a waste for you to add the hood. Your better off getting a bigger turbo(I am hoping you have a turbo cause if you dont and you were gonna do the hood and seats that is wrong). The turbo upgrade is going to be the best upgrade-pricey too.

it's a 2k1 eclipse and i just started reading about it and i am hooked... since i own the car outright i figured it would be a good hobby car. any links you guys could rpovide would b much appreciated as well... like i said i just started reading about all of this and it seems like the right thing to do.

Yeah well Vinygroover you have a better choice of cars to start with down under- Skyline,WRXSTi,Holden - you bastard!!lol They are supposed to bring the Skyline here but it wont be anything like the R34.

That has been in my bookmarks for several years. I am big into modding cars or as you guys say- hotting up. I went for a ride in a friends WRX STi while in Melbourne. Awesome car!! Americans say souped up or modded. Aussies say hotted up. Weird eh?! I like the Holden with the Corvette LS1 motor. Pretty sweet. When I was heading up towards the Dandenongs one day I saw a US Camaro on the side of the road, all the Aussies were in awe of it, pretty funny cause they are a beavis and butthead mobile here. I saw a few Aussie converted Vipers there too- WAY overpriced.

First and most important mod is a free flowing exhaust, then a better flowing induction system, then nitrous, if you have the money have the heads opened up, once you have that mutha breathing then you can upsize the turbo, and THEN if you want to get real freaky, have it set up to run on methanol.

I agree, exhaust first.

If you are strictly looking for horse power mods, you'll have to mod the power plant.

Next, look for the subtle things. If it's got any yellow (ugh..) on it, go for clear outs. Things like front turn signals and such. Also, the xenon bulbs are getting cheap as well. Both of which can be found on e-bay.

So, 808, what's yur BF% these dayz??

A better idea is to save the money you would spend on fixing this thing up (it's new so dont mess with the warantee..many mitsu's ive dealt with are POS's so your gonna need that) and invest that.. Do that again with the same amount every year for the next ten years. If your lucky and ride the market up when its bullish again at the end of those 10 years you can go buy a ferrari...(they are shit too though)

Yeah cars are a waste of money but I love em too. Bad investments that is for sure. Unless your talking classic. I know a guy with 26 cars, he has Ferrari's,a mint Cobra(original-were talking half a million for that one),vintage mustangs owned by Shelby himself, classic 63 Vette etc...it is crazy. I wish I just had one car right now, I had to sell mine :(

be careful with nitrous, you will blow your engine if you dont know what your doing, start with exhause and air intake system, you can go with carbon fiber hood like you said for lightning up the front end and giving some good looks, definately put a turbo in it, you will notice it, AND get an aftermarket blow-off valve, gotta love the air realease sound between gears,,, for styling, go with a body kit (whichever one you like) i also like recaro seats, cause sparco is expensive, go with a custom interior makeover and exterior paintjob, and go to modernimage.net for some cool custom graphis, also, importantly, if your gonna have all of that horespower, dont forget you need better tires than the ones you have, oso get bigger, wider tires and better brakes, like brembo.

Gotta agree with that one.
You'd be just another tricked out car on the road.

Buuut, it automatically gets you into the Icy Hot Stuntaz.....

Dude, by far the most important thing is to have that song "Days Go By" by Dirt Vegas. A dark haired chick with a golf hat that dances weird to ride shotgun would be a nice accessory too.

i used to be into the modded import scene back in the day... i guess now im completely oposite, i sold th car and got a truck and would never turn back... going off-road is 10x more thrilling for me, plus a truck isnt as expensive
