its been a tossed around concept...i believe that synthetic HGH can increase the risk of cancer however it has never been proven...i still stay away from it....here is the article.............if you want a link just PM me
HGH Side Effects
by Lisa Wells, RN
Over these past 5 1/2 years I have read or heard about the supposed "dangers of HGH". Some visitors to our web site have informed us of negative opinions they have heard about HGH, that frighten people and cause them to not consider any type of HGH therapy. This is unfortunate because we can increase the amount of real HGH made by our own pituitary gland safely and effectively without the need to inject ourselves with synthetic human growth hormone.
The books written by the HGH physicians and authorities are filled with information about taking effective HGH supplements to increase the pituitary gland's own release of HGH.
Side Effects of HGH
Concerning the side effects of human growth hormone, I would like to clarify that the side effects that have been reported were experienced while taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with synthetic HGH injections only.
The reason the injections can cause side effects is because the injections deliver a full dose of an artificial synthetic hormone into the body, which replaces the real HGH that is usually produced and released by the body's pituitary gland, because, if the body is receiving plenty of synthetic HGH by injection, the pituitary gland will decrease its own release of HGH.
The only "real" HGH is that which is made for you by your own pituitary gland.
One possible major side effect of taking HGH injections is the patient's pituitary gland becoming lazy, or even atrophied from its lack of use. This can happen with the injections because, again, the injections provide the body with a full dose of HGH from an outside source. The pituitary gland will not produce and release over and above the amount of HGH needed so it can decrease its production and release of its own HGH if the patient is taking injections.
Research has shown that the pituitary gland of an older person is usually fully capable of producing as much HGH as that of a younger person if it is adequately stimulated, this is how high quality HGH supplements work. They help the pituitary gland to release a healthier amount of human growth hormone for the body to use.
For those who have a healthy pituitary gland, it is not a healthy decision to take synthetic HGH injections and in so doing cause your pituitary gland to decrease the production and release of its own HGH. You should not want to become dependant on synthetic hormone replacement therapy at your age, especially if it is not necessary.
Specific Side Effects of HGH Injections
Those who treat themselves with black market HGH injections and those who take larger doses of HGH injections than recommended are at risk for these side effects:
Acromegaly with increased incidence of heart attack and death,
Edema and Fluid Retention,
Liver Damage,
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
Painful Joints,
Gynecomastia (enlarged breasts in males)
Acromegaly has been seen in subjects who have taken too much HGH injection. Acromegaly is a dangerous disease with increased incidence of heart attack and death.
Other sides effects such as water retention and carpal tunnel syndrome have also been seen when large doses of HGH injection were taken. In Dr. Rudman's studies the benefits were striking, but there were some uncomfortable side effects also, including carpal tunnel syndrome, and gynecomastia, or enlarged breast in men.
Concerns About HGH and Cancer
Taking HGH injections is taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy) with synthetic HGH.
Taking synthetic hormone replacement therapy with other synthetic hormones such as synthetic estrogen has been found to increase the risk of cancer in some studies. Taking HGH injections means you are taking synthetic hormone replacement therapy with synthetic HGH.
The most well known authority on HGH says in one of his books that,
"hormone replacement therapy with synthetic HGH injections is still new, we cannot know the long term effects ".
The same book says,
"those who are concerned about the safety and cost of synthetic HGH injections, yet still want the numerous benefits of HGH, may consider taking products to promote the improved production of HGH by their own pituitary gland ".
Lastly, a book written in 1999, by one of the foremost authorities stated that,
"with the way anti-aging science is advancing, HGH injections may soon be obsolete. New sublingual (under the tongue) spray HGH releasers are under development".
Taking supplements to help the pituitary gland release a more healthy and youthful amount of its own human growth hormone has not been shown to increase the risk for cancer. In fact, the authorities on HGH believe that the human growth hormone made by the body provides a defense against cancer by increasing the cancer fighting cells. HGH is also known to strengthen the immune system.
When we are children, the production and release of human growth hormone by the pituitary gland is at its highest, and at this time we are usually at our lowest risk for cancer. As we age, the amount of HGH released by the pituitary gland decreases, and our risk for cancer usually increases.
Facts About the Side Effects of HGH
Human Growth Hormone overdose can cause acromegaly-
Andre' the Giant was an acromegalic. He was born with a pituitary defect that caused his pituitary gland to pour abnormally large amounts of HGH into his system. This caused him to grow very tall and to have superhuman strength, but it also caused an increased risk of heart disease. Andre' died shortly after age 47.
Athletes who pump themselves with massive doses of HGH injection risk this same fate.
Acromegaly can be the result of deliberate and continuous overdosing. The HGH does what it is suppose to do, but it does it to great excess, since the body is receiving too much HGH.
Human Growth Hormone is not an anabolic steroid but has similar effects-
Anabolic steroids are synthetic products that act in the body like male sex hormones; they do not exist in nature. The HGH made by the body's pituitary gland is not a steroid because it occurs naturally in the body.
HGH injections have become the drug of choice among athletes who are always trying to build more strength and muscle mass the easy way, because HGH cannot be detected in urine drug tests.
Some athletes now abuse HGH injections as they abused anabolic steroids.
Human Growth Hormone overdose can cause edema and carpal tunnel syndrome-
Carpal tunnel syndrome and joint aches and pains are all due to the water retention effects of too much HGH.
Human Growth Hormone can cause cancer-
As explained above, the HGH injections are synthetic, and synthetic hormone replacement therapy with certain other hormones have been found to increase the risk of cancer in some studies.
Some studies have reported some increase in the risk of cancer when taking synthetic HGH injections, and some studies have shown no increase in the risk of cancer when taking HGH injections, so it is still unknown whether taking synthetic human growth hormone actually increases the risk for cancer.
The real human growth hormone made by the pituitary gland has not been found to increase the risk of cancer, so HGH therapy that involves helping the pituitary gland to produce and release a healthier amount of its own HGH should not cause cancer.
