Pain killers are a double edged sword. The vast majority are based on either aspirin or bufferin (acetaminophen).

Aspirin can eat a hole through your stomach lining which causes stomach acid to destroy your intestines which is lethal. Thsi only happens with heavy daily doses I believe. Those who take a lot of Motrin etc.

Acetaminophen destroys your liver with chronic use. Very, very bad when combined with alcohol.

Pain killers are bad if used chronically.

One reason they are so addictive is because they kill emotional as well as physical pain. What I wonder is, why is it bad to take them everday if they have this effect? They must be harmful to your body in some way.

Xanax and Klonopin (anxiety drugs) are addictive and can be taken for a lifetime and can actually lenghten your life by lowering blood pressure and keeping you from stressing out, which wreaks havoc on your system.

are you kidding?? ask Brett Favre.

OMG, thats exactly what I said when I read that about hydrocodone. Hell yes, thats what people get addicted to all the time, especially b/c of back surgeries. I have met several people that have. A couple moved onto heroin and I lost them as friends. Whats so bad is they end up taking way more than they should like 10 pills at once and then they get that huge shot of tylenol thats in it. Really bad for the liver. I met this helicopter pilot when I first stopped drinking and, if you can believe this and he was trying to quit 40-50 vicodin per day habit. He was taking that and flying a freaking news chopper. Then he would drink unbelievable amounts of alcohol.

We should be scaring you. Stay away from that shit.

800MGs of Ibuprofen. Lorcet only AS NEEDED.

If you take it every day for two weeks start to worry.

A good friend of mine was hooked on lorcets after a wrist injury. He ran out of his script allocation so he had his "own source" for quite a while. He moved up north to get away from the party lifestyle (his also an alcoholic) and try to wean himself off the lorcets. When he ran out he started going thru withdrawal. One day he called me from the highway and said he was heading back south and every telephone pole he passed he considered driving into it because of the withdrawal. The only thing keeping him from doing that was the picture of his 3 yr old daughter (livign w/ the psycho bitch ex-wife who married him strictly for a green card & then divorced him, took the kid) that he had stuck on his dashboard.

So anyway I told him to come back to my house & I put him up for a month while he detoxed. He spent most of that month sitting in the shower shaking, sweating & crying.

So yea, that hydrocodone is addictive and you dont' want to get hooked on it. Mind you my friend was popping about 20 lorcets/day. 1/2 a vicadine won't hurt you but dont' make it a habit.

Why don't you try stopping now and see what happens?

i do believe that vicodin is somewhat like ultram in where (correct me if i'm wrong) it interferes with muscle contractions and synapses.

well if it's a flare-up then yeah go ahead. but don't take it on a regular basis.

also I saw some book on a guy with Crohn's disease, he started some diet advocated by some doctor who writes books, and he got better through diet.
