Ok, I given this computer for free. FREE! Ok, got that. So don't go off and start telling me to buy a fucking $2000 system (Razorguns that is for you).

Now *IF* it can be upgraded and *IF* upgrading isn't going to be a fucking arm and leg charge (cause I can buy a new one for $399) would it be decent enough to give to ShadowoodII the charity organization that I support so their child residents can use it to surf the net and research topics for their homework and such.

It won't be for games. (Sorry Razorguns)

It will just be a basic something to connect to the net and browse around with.

I got this because it was being used in our call center at work and they were not using it, so my boss asked if I wanted it and I said yes. I am basically just wondering if the memory can be upgraded. I have an external CD/DVD that can be plugged in if I need to load any programs on it. And if the HD inside can't be upgraded, I have one that plugs in externally too.

yes it can. the memory should be very reasonable as well as an upgraded HD. as long as u have all of the necessary software and operating system this should be relatively cheap if u do the work yourself.

I saw my name! Yeah!

Anything can be upgraded. Though Dell machines I know are usually really packed in to save space and hard to maneuver around.

The memory might be tricky, gotta match it. The HD, DVD, Video card can all be done. Or better yet - buy them all at some chinese store, and ask them to install them too for a small price. Let a pro do it.

Remember if it's got XP, it can't play or author DVD's without software. Vista can.

. Dells are usually cpu-locked so no replacing there. No pci or agp slots so upgrading video. You could add memory and that would be about it. Memory probably maxes out @ 2GB, if not more. Good PC for free.

can some :geek: :nerd: look at the specs and tell me what kind of memory it would require to upgrade? And how many slots it has? I would think only one slot for memory, so at the most 2 gigs... if that kind of memory goes that high.

2 DIMM slots; Non-ECC dual channel shared*
DDR SDRAM system memory (333Mhz or 400Mhz) up to
2GB

*shared means the video card uses some of this memory too.
