Do you know of any home remedies? I've been suckin' on Cepacol lozenges and they are not working very well. Does gargling with salt water really help? Please help me!!!!! I'll give you K!!!!! :Chef:

Increase your liquid intake and make sure your house is humidified properly.
Gargle with warm salt water (¼ teaspoon salt to ½ cup water) several times a day.
Drink a glass of hot water with 1 teaspoon lemon juice and some honey. You'll feel better instantly. You can also drink a chamomile tea with lemon and honey added.
Cut a lemon into 2 pieces. Take one piece and put some salt and black pepper on it, press with a knife so that salt-pepper penetrate into the lime. Put the lemon on heat to make it warm. Slowly lick this lemon squeezing it until no juice remains. Do it 2-3 times a day.
Chives and scallions are helpful for a sore throat when simmered in water for 5 minutes. Drink as a tea.
Figs, beets are beneficial in sore throat.
Eat garlic. Garlic is an anti-septic and good for many conditions.
Take over-the-self pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Motrin IB®, Advil®).
use commonsense hygeine.
Once you get rid of the sore throat, change your toothbrush, wash your towel, handkerchief, other clothes.

Definitely gargle with warm salt water.....

Try not to talk alot as it will only aggravate it.....

Also try a hot toddy: hot tea or water + honey + gin or vodka

I like the Hot Toddy idea...I'm meating up with my lil' sis tonight for drinks and maybe I'll have one of them. :Chef:

Yeah salt water works. Or, crush up some tylenol or aspirin in warm water and do the same. That works as well.

Sucrets Complete are a good pain reliever too. Numbs the throat area. Also, take some ibuprofen for the anti-inflammatory effects.

Lots of liquids like others have mentioned.

I find they work well......but if they don't after a few you won't care as much....

I usually suck on the old fashioned red & white peppermint balls or the regular red & white peppermint candies. For some reason, those always work for me.
