Can someone explain to me static holds?

Basically your muscles are stimulated in 3 ways Concentric (shortening), Ecentric (lengthining), and Static (without moving much), an example would be things such as a negative rep where you are trying to resist the wait and make it just stay.

So how would I do a static hold? Let's say with a bench press?

Let the bar to my chest with a heavier weight and do my best to push it up?

Arn't static holds a way to trick your neuros into thinking that you can puch more weight then you actually can??

hmmm. ive tried them, im not a fan, but if youve never ventured, maybe its worth a go. Basically, take like 40lbs heavier then my max 1 rep; unrack and hold in mid-position for 5 seconds. then i re-rack it. something like that. or did i do it wrong, lol.

static contraction holds are where you simply pause as the peak of a rep, then come down slowly.. so lets say you're doing bent over rows, you'd do a rep and hold it for like 30 seconds, then let it down slowly. some people do it on every rep, i usually just do it on the last rep for like 20 seconds. it's a good shocking method, but I think super sets and drop sets are more effective.

I thought this was a negative? When you drop the bar slowly and press fast ... ?

Usually you wanna do negatives with a training buddy b/c you'll need help with the positive movement. This is b/c you can do a negative movement with much more weight than a positive and is the only way I've felt any difference compared to negatives my myself.

as for your example of a BP unrack the BB lower a couple inchs and hold it there as long as possible. these are done at the end of your set, if they are done during the set they are just an over exagerated negative.......

japanese machine......you did it right

Another example of static holds is to rub a balloon on your head and then stick it to the wall. My kids like this one.

Actually to be more specific that is called a static hold with a negative. Static holds have 0 movement. For example, Holding a dumbell in each hand for as long as possible is a static contraction.
