Cameras and face recognition in London

My wife just phoned me to inform me of a news clip she just had seen. It seems that the gunless UK has cameras up on light posts in the great city of London. They can perform face recognition and your face is logged into a database as you are walking around doing errands. Then they can identify "criminals" that may be in the area.

Furthermore, shows like "Bigbrother" here in the US are a means to desensitise us to the whole idea before putting it into action here. If it is first viewed as entertainment it will come across easier once enacted.

How can the people of England stand for this??

This sort of thing genuinely scares me to death.

To the best of my knowledge, they are only using the cameras in the UK to monitor areas, but Florida is using the face recognition camera to log people’s faces in public areas. They are also going to implement a program with the Florida DMV to cross-reference the digital photos taken for licenses to a database of criminals or people wanted for questioning.

they havent insituted the face recognition yet to MY knowledge, whjos to day they havent. from what ive seen of the CCTV fotage its so low resolution how they could dio a face recognition on that i dont know.

however with all the cameras we are thje most watched people on earth that are free i think.

CCTV was touted as a way to cut down on urban crime. it hasnt made huge inroads into it tfhat were promised but they kept building the cams. and now face recognition 'suddenly' crops up. my pops saw something like this coming

but MI5 is already monitoring emails (or is about to)..... i hate this stuff they are pulling... thing that cracks me up about CCTV is it hasnt done all that much. look at ealing road. will CCTV work. no. but they will use things like this as an example of why we should stick in face recognition
