Calling all IT people in Elite

I'm looking for an alternative to Microsft Exchange under the Microsoft OS platform. Have any of you used something else like Lotus? or any other alternatives to Exchange. My concern is cost, any cheaper alternatives??

I use Lotus Note on a daily basis and it's not bad although I admit I know nothing in terms of the cost

If you just want mail there's tons of cheaper shareware type programs. If you want shared calendars and public folders you're going to pay out the ying yang. Lotus Notes has great shared databases but the mail client is absolute crap....filters are way too difficult.

Take a look at http://www.mailtraq.com. For less than 50 employess I'd pay some unix guy to set up a Qmail toaster.
