Well, a pair of tickets fell in my lap.. I saw Cal's last game.. being a native of maryland, it made me cry to watch cal at bat for "the last time"... Thanks Cal... you are everything that is good about sports today... A model for the american work ethic, its been a great 20 years cal, hats off to you.
We all love you and appreciate what you have done for our state, for baseball, and all the people who look up to you.
Here is a small summary of cal's accomplishments..
3000 hits,
400 Home runs
19 all star appearances
Is one of 23 in ML history to win multi-MVP awards
In 1991, Cal became the only player in AL history to win the MVP on a sub-.500 team
Cal Ripken, Jr. received the Golden Glove Award in 1991 and 1992
And that little record of Lou Gehrigs of he broke 2632 consecutive games.. WOW!!!
