I read a review of this game at guru3d.com and man...the guy really slagged the shit out of the game.
i was soooo looking forward to this game also. o well.
I did send feedback to sony about why i will not be purchasing it however. this is what i wrote:
"I've been waiting for SWG for about 2 years now. I thought it would be the saving grace of the MMO genre. I finally got accepted to the beta a few weeks ago. I hopped on the beta forums and read some posts, and from what it seemed, there was a lot of time left in beta as there were many bugs still yet unfixed, and testers speculating weeks and weeks of garbage to sort through before the game is stable and enjoyable.
I thought to myself "good, cause I have way too much to do in the next few weeks and I really cannot get into playing this game at all right now".
Then I got an email the other day stating the beta is over and the game is retail. i thought it was a joke, but no, it was true, and I contemplated going and spending 50 bucks. But I figured no, i don;t want to be stupid and end up wasting my money...i will read some reviews first and get a general idea what's what. Well thank god I waited.
From all the reviews I've read, this is what I gather: Sony rushed out a buggy, incomplete game, and they now want you to spend your $15 per month for the next 6 months to help make the game what it should have been at launch.
Well, no, sorry. I'm not paying subscription money for what should be a polished product just to, in all actuality, be paying that fee to help fund a game's devlopment and help polish it up for months AFTER release, and basically bring it to the state it should have been when it went gold. In 6 months or so, this feature MAY be in , or so may this other feature, keyword always being MAY. bugs MAY be fixed...No thanks Sony. I'm not stupid.
This is the last straw for me when it comes to Sony. I am now officially sick of them when it comes to software. Maybe Sony should take a hint and fund their own development, and actually FINISH the game instead of going so far with their own money, then releasing an unfnished buggy game, in hopes people will buy it blindly due to the movie license, in this case, and then use the player's money to continue the development. That leaves a big time bad taste in my mouth. And I'm speaking with my wallet this time to say "Hey Sony, this is not an acceptable thing to do, no matter how much you may think it is, or how much the diehard StarWars fans want to believe it is either."
Next time, Sony, fund the game with your own cash, and make sure the product is polished, somewhat bug free, and FUN when you release it. This MAY help with boosting up your reputation from the mud. "
Ahh, fuck it, who cares about leveling up some stupid digital character. I think at this point in my life I'd rather work towards putting time into "leveling" myself up and putting time towards things that mean something.
