Burning PlayStation2 Games...

Yeah start with some lighter fluid a match a voila!

Not bad Wodin. But, for someone that has a PS2, this little chip may be helpful. It's only $39 bucks. Then, you go rent a fuckload of games at Blockbuster, burn 'em, and you got game! Because of this, I will be buying a PS2.

Hehe, here:-

Playstation2 = £180

With this info, I may JUST get one.

I just bought a PS2 about 2 weeks ago and haven't researched it yet. You have to get a mod chip in order to play burned games. From what I have read, it appears that you will still need to do a swap trick with the DVD's. I believe burned PS1 games will work on a modded ps2 without swapping. I have a modded ps1 so it doesn't matter to me. I'm going to look into it further this week and get the low down. I'll post the information for you when I find out.

I've seen external USB mod chips for the PS2. These are real nifty if you don't feel comfortable taking apart your PS2 and soldering a few wires.

I've never ripped a DVD, so it's probably a lot more complicated then going to blockbuster, renting them, and copying them. You'll have to format the dvd games in order for them to be burned onto a normal cd-r. A lot of companies started using copywrite protection on the ps1 games that made things more difficult and I'm sure they took more precautions with the PS2 discs. Luckily I have a friend who runs a T1 dumpsite and it's loaded with PS1, PS2, DC, and PC games. They're ripped and ready to burn, which makes things a lot easier on me.

To play burned PS2 games without a mod is very simple. You open your case and look in the laser, you will see a little white screw. Turn it CLOCKWISE untill you hear a "click" sound. Put the case back together and you got yourself a PS2 that can play burned games. If it doesn't work you may need to hit it with a sledge hammer a few times, or you can try sending 5,000 volts into it - that'll get it working for sure. If all else fails you can always send me your PS2 and I will be happy to "fix" it for you :D.

Seriously though, get a mod chip. Its just like PSX but remember, you won't be able to play DVD games with it, only PSX and CD PS2 games.

The modchips for PS2 are crap right now. It won't play all your games. Also it's not that easy to simply copy a DVD.

i have the mod chip in my PS1, and i trieed burning a game the other day it didnt work?????? HELP

Are you saying that you can't play burned DVD's(actual DVD's made with a DVD burner) or you can't play the original DVD games?

If it's the latter, the USB mod chip definately sounds like the way to go to get around the problem. You could just unplug it when you want to play originals.

I'm saying you can play DVDs because I'm sure you don't have a 1,000 dollar DVD-R, if you do then yeah you can play burned DVDs :D.
