Bulking/Cutting Cycles???

Read something on another post that made me think..why do we bulk then cut then bulk then cut etc..or why do some try for lean mass and only gain minimal amounts of muscle a year because they are a fraid to lose their abs? Unless you have reached your goal as far as muscle is concerned i see no reason to run cutting cyles!! besides assuming one has the will power and the know how it only takes about 5 months to get absolutely shredded yet (depending on how big you want to get) it will take a lot longer than 5 months to put muscle on!!Im not advocating eat anything you want..im talking about getting in your pro, carbs and cheat meals once in awhile are fine..what do you guys think?
 
I am not as experienced as alot on there but I've pondered that myelf.
Why wouldn't you bulk until you feel you are happy with the size then cut.

Although I think some cut for the summer look................so they don't look smooth and fat.

simple.

How are you going to know just when you have reached your muscle mass goals until you have dieted down to a low BF%?

It's mainly out of necessity that bodybuilders do that, guest appearances, commitments etc.

Being a PL, I think it'd redundant to repeat the cycle of bulk, cut, bulk cut; though that's what you guys are all about.

Im not talking about pro bb'ers..im talking about us those that freuqent these boards..you can get your bf hydro tested if you want to get technical..i know everyones goals are different mine is to get strong and big...dieted down pl'ers would have an awesome physique in my opinion..

I think it's a ridiculous idea also. There should be no need for a cutting cycle unless you're prepping for a show. Getting up to 15-16% BF on a bulk cycle is just proof that you're eating too damn much. I have an old post around here about my theory of "Clean bulk cycles".

I agree about the PL.......but in my case, it would be too much torture for too little reward. There's no point to getting down in to single digit BF%.......I lose too much strength and I feel like shit.

To your point, being that you're not a proBB, you shouldn't worry about dieting down and you'll keep alot more mass that way.

I've done 2 cutting cycles in my life...one was preparing for a show in June of 03 and the other was boaught for a show in Jun 04 but because of injuires i didn't compete...i did experiment with the gear though so i have an idea what i want for my cutting cycle for the show in June 05. The rest of cycles start with suspension or d-bol or a-bombs....maybe some deca or EQ and always Enthate because my body reacts the best to that.
 
excellent post there DT!!! thats kinda what i was thinking of doing...where do you think a good place to start would be as for as macros and cals..i was thinking start at something like 400g pro 250g carbs about 80g of fat...I couldnt agree more with you on doing more than one bulk in a row to maximize your use of gear!!

the bigger you get the fatter you also tend to get while bulking which then becomes a challenge removing that fat while holding the hard earned muscle. I like to TRY to stay as lean as posssible all year and gain muscle, try it

totally not true..the more muscle you carry the higher your metabolic rate!!!!!!!!
 
i'm workin on my 2 week yo yo diet/training routine.

i found it very effective at losing fat while gaining muscle.
and you dont have to suffer through 10 weeks of cutting.

anyhow, i'll post it in a few days.

ive heard of that before but never tried..theres name for that diet and i think t-mag ran an article on that plus a bunch of others ill try to find it..yeah when u get a chance make a thread!! i can say that carb cycling definitely works!!
