Broken collarbone, should I switch from CKD to Atkins?

Even typing this one-handed is a pain in the ass, so excuse any typos!

So I was responding quite well to a CKD, but I took a nosedive off my bike on Sunday and broke my collarbone. Normal tasks can be painful if i am
not extremely careful and weight training without stressing the break is pretty much impossible.

If i'm not weight training, then carbing up is pointless right? Is there any reason I shouldn't do a standard low carb diet during recovery time? Since I can't lift, I expect to lose a lot of muscle anyway so if I get to a low BF%, then when I recover I can slowly add carbs, weight train, and within a few weeks start to bulk back up. That's my plan, anyway, but I need some feedback.

Also, what are some workouts I can do? I already walk 1 mile every morning to and from work, and my job is like a somewhat constant moderate cardio workout (especially on Fridays and Saturdays).

Thanks for helping a gimp :mix:

How long before you can lift again?

Personally, I'd stay on the CKD and do legs and cardio for the time being.

well as me, I know how painful a broken collar bone can be. Its almost as bad as broken ribs. For some reason my Yz125 didnt like me a couple of years ago and threw me!

Anyways, if you cant exercise, you cant exercise. You definately should take your time to heal. The Atkins diet is an option. Just remember, you will lose some muscle mass. But once your healed and can start lifting again, you will be in a better position than if you were just eating whatever and getting fat while healing. Just a thought. Thats what I would do at least.

I swear i was the first to do a backflip!!! or at least try one... lol thats how i fractured my scapula back in teh day. damn bikes.

When I broke my collarbone it was even hard to sleep so I think all exercise is out of the question.

Both of those diets would seem harsh for muscle loss when you can't exercise. Why not just do a high protein lower carb diet eating at a little above maintenance. This way you get nutrients to heal the fracture as well.
