Looking for some insight here, anyone who can help. I work 12 hr shifts overnight 6 pm to 6 am. Couple that with an hour commute each way. Needless to say i have like no time. Well I've managed to work in a routine and i can make it to the gym and get my training in. My question is what to eat when i wake up. I sleep from like 8-2. I have less than an hour from the time i get up to get my meals ready and then get to the gym. Then i rush back home slam down a shake and head off to work. I have to be there by 5:30 pm. Well if i get up and eat some egg whites and oatmeal i feel bogged down when i get to the gym and by the time im done i just finally feel like its digested and then i have to take a shake. So should i go right to the gym on an empty stomach and make the shake my first meal or should i make the first meal a shake and then have another when i get home and make the rest of my meals whole foods. Thanks in advance.

I don't see why you would feel bogged down after a good bowl of oatmeal, with the 50g of carbs it provides.

Because i guess maybe i just digest food slowly, especially a slow digesting carb like oatmeal. And i may eat and then 20 minutes later im working out there just isn't enough time in between.

go to te gym on aminos only.......take your pw shake with you....drink it on the wa home...oats, eggs, and cc after...simple.

if your bulking, i would try to make sure you get the eggs + oatmeal in before the workout. if your cutting jkurz's advice is good. another idea would be to have a shake before the workout (should be less filling) and after of course.

Hit right on the head!

As long as you energy to train hard, you don't necessarily have to eat a complete solid meal before training.

Kudos to your discipline!
