montecito is all old money, the lot sizes can vary a LOT... I share about an acre with another house. His is about 3acres (a well utilized 3)... and there are other houses with like 200 acres... I think he owns a local construction company... he probably built the house with intention to sell it off. If you can actually get permits here, the market is absurdly overpriced.. A house just sold in hope ranch (also in sb) for over 50 million, taking Oprah out of the running as the most expensive home in sb.
