i had a white one with a bit of brown on the face many years ago(we rescued it)
they are cool

i like brindles and darker colors in general than white or fawn - overall.. they are still pretty though

DL....those are such beautiful dogs. I think you should go for it. What does Dread Lord say about that??? hehe...(I think I know the answer to that one)

that hyper? mine wasnt that hyper, then again it was a mostly outdoor dog
but i live in an apartment now
i read that they do pretty well in an apartment

dread lord doesnt care anymore, hehe, ive talked about it so much for so long, he would rather me get one just so i shut the fuck up :)

im going to try to schedule to go see some bulldogs today, but even thogh i can afford it (maybe) i doubt i'll make the decision to get one, i just want to see them anyway

kuda - tell me more about it. i dont want to make a bad decision
i am going to spay/neuter, and get obedience training for it so it's not too unruly. any suggestions or comments?

Great dogs with amusing personalities..But also very popular ,popularity usually brings on inbreeding and with inbreeding the possibility of genetic defects increases. Like breathing problems, hips, skin allergies the list goes on. Know who your buying from.Dont support pet stores, where pets are purchased from inhumane puppy farms.

i completely agree
i refuse to buy from any type of store, and no inexperienced breeders

im talking 10+ yrs experience, and fortunately i'm finally getting ahold of a few..

they do seem to be unique behavioraly from what i am reading here

any idea about the apartment situation? we haev a very large apartment.... but still, it is an apartment

The picture above is my pup(American Bulldog) when she was in her awkward teenage faze big feet, large teeth small head...I raised her in an apartment...with all the energy puppies have they need constant exercise and attention..Its real easy for them to get stressed out in a smaller space, which brings out distructive behavior..Also some pups are more vocal than others and spend most of there time howling when left alone.Which doesnt really fly with other tenants.Boxers are usually less vocal but are known to be very hyper especially as pups.

Dread

I crate trained her for the first six month...which is supposed to potty train them. works well but you get an ocassional suprise, so choose wisely when selecting a blanket. 3'by 5' crate full of diarhea, not a good time. Crate shouldnt be to small or to big just enough for comfortable lounging..I bought a large crate cause i knew she' be big and sectioned of a smaller section with card board and wire ties until she grew... Are you set on getting a Girl or Boy?

best dog to have. only dog our whole family (goin back lots of years before i was even born), were boxers. They stay puppies at heart for their whole lives. And they the most loveable dogs. And they are tuff + buff.. If i was to get a dog again, it would be a boxer. (mine got ran over last year)

KingKong69 Great pic how many lbs.? Did you get to check out the parents? Ive met many people that insist American Bulls dont exist..Its a pit ,its this, its that ... Ive done enough research to know there is no Sasquash,or Loc Ness ......American Bulldogs ..they rock

i saw the (english) bulldogs, they are big cuties, but i dont want to buy one at this point

im about to call around and try to see some boxers tomorrow. the bullies were just not .. able to be as active as i'd like

once again, ive had a boxer before - i pretty much know what to expect. and i dont know anyone w/an american bluldog. they dont really appeal to me. they are a bit too "plain" IMO, although they are cute. i just prefer something with a bit more attitude

the cat isnt afraid to scratch the dogs eyes much like a women isnt afriad to hit u in the goolies :p

hard to cuddle as fairly muscular ive found but my cousin had one and he loved it....even more odd as were a german shepard family traditionally

I have a boxer...best damn dog ive ever had...freindly and loves to play..smart as hell and he is very protective also. loves kids (but cause he is so strong small children can get knocked down to the ground when playing)...they need alot of space to run around though..I would never buy one and put him in an apt or a small yard. I wish I had a pic to post of him..bueatiful dog and built like a rock too..named him Magnus.

WELL MY AMERICAN BULL DOG IS 67LBS TOADAY. he has full papers, and i did meet the parents. mama was close to 100lbs, and the sweetest dog ever, and daddy was 125lbs, but a little meaner. my bulldog is the grandson of the bulldog named chance in the movie "homeward bound". he is very outgoing, loves kids, will lick them to death, and hasnt been aggresive with anyone yet. we have a full grown male cat who is one of his best friends, along with his brother the saint bernard. he is now 4 months old. the american bull dog, and english are worlds apart. to me, boxers are hard to trian, and have very short attention spans. anyways, he is just my favorite dog yet.

Have you considered contacting a "Purebred Adoption Rescue Organization"

Their are many Purebred dogs that have been stolen for the purpose of breeding. When only to be find out that they have been "fixed". These dogs are then just dumped off in the street and find their way to local pounds or shelters, who will then contact the Purebred Association.

The Association is non profit and conducts a through evaluation of all applicants. There is a nominal application fee $25.00 and a very long questionnaire. You will then be contacted by phone to arrange an in home visit to see what conditions the dog will be living in.

Trust me, there are some great dogs their and often they are puppies, 2-3 yrs olds, or seniors.

Please consider this option, as it prevents further inbreeding and puppy mills.
