..got an offer to be a doorman at a club in Athens.....


Pros and cons please.

Cas, Wodin, Ranger and others post up.
 
pros - bouncer groupie chics...
- girls u let in for free and/or underage.

you will be banging all these girls lol

cons - um u can get hurt, stabbed, etc....but thats rare
- boring as shit if ur there all night and have to be on watch out and not enjoy the club..

every club is different, the atmosphere, IMHO, dictates whether or not its a "fun" job.
 
What kind of a club is it and how much bling-bling (fuck, I can't believe I used that word) are the offering?


Some pros: extra $$, a little excitement, meet different people (as an actor, I'm sure you would enjoy just having the time to observe so many people), extra motivation for strength training:D

Cons- inherent danger; dealing with drunks, punks, and born assholes; late nights; possible jealousy from wife/girlfriend (that depends on you relationship status though, of course; bar smoke:sick:

Im 20 minutes form athens and about 30 form atlanta so the drive isn't bad at all.....

I occasionally bounce on weekends. I like to act like a real bad-ass. I enforce dress codes and make sure people have valid IDs. A lot of people get pissy with me but they usually give in because I'm a pretty intimidating presence at nearly 135 pounds.

Management generally intervenes about 20-30 minutes into my shifts and makes me leave. They always make stupid arguments like "you're not employed here" or "this is a perkins". :rolleyes: I don't get some people....

Pros:

You get lots of phone numbers and one nighters.

If your deal is a base pay + a % of the gate you collect on a cover bar then some nights you can make pretty good cash.

Free food and drinks which depends on the club.

You get to hit people and not go to jail for it.

Cons

Cold nights at the door.
Hot muggy nights at the door.
Assholes who want to take you on no matter what.
Drunk people - they're harder to take out than semi drunk or sober people.

Isn't there still some liabilty on a bouncer's part if you're not careful? My dad served papers to many bars and bouncers for related fights, granted I don't know how they turned out in court.

Really, I think "cool titty bar" is an oxy-moron. I find the atmosphere highly depressing. The time went soooooo slow. It was a real downer seeing how fucked up these chicks' lives were. It also got old having drunk bastards coming up a thousand times a night wanting to shake your hand and saying, "Man, yer gettin' paid to look at titties. Hehehe. That must be the best job in the world. Isn't that girl up there just a sweetheart?" (points to girl on stage who you caught sucking some dude off in his van just last week, busting out some acrobatic pole moves onstage due to the fact that she just tooted three rails of crank before she came in and who looks like the Stretch Mark Queen when she gets near the pool table lights.)

Hold out for something else, my man.

well....between the 100 bucks a night for 5 nights and personal training I can easily cover my current-soon to be gone salary

I'd jump on that for damn sure for $20.00 an hour. I'd even have my son taking a shift! LOL!! He's big for his age. Bwaugh!!!

If it's between dealing with skanks at a titty bar and eating ramen noodles in between calls from the bill collectors, I think I'd take the former. I wouldn't like it though, but that's just me. Everyone's different (although emode DID say you and I were both crimson...hey, what's your sign? LOL) Good luck to you, man.

After being in it for hours, every pore will reek !

Man, I wash my face at least three times a night at the bar just to keep that greasy smoky bar funk off me. Otherwise it feels like I have a Vaseline facial by the end of the night. When you go home and that first stream hits your hair in the shower, you really get a good wiff of all that smoke then. A rigorous shampooing and a couple of farmer blows and you're good to go, though.:D

i'm with cas on this. i waited tables at one of those clubs one year to get ahead on bills. only worked there a couple months, but it is a messed up life some of those girls lead. it can give you a jaded outlook on people in general. putting up with drunks is a real pain in the ass if you're not drunk.
 
I think most of the pro's and con's are covered.....sounds like good pay. Some nights will be boring as hell, other nights you'll be helping puking drunks out the door, trying to get a husband and wife to calm down(the worst)....it all goes with the job.

You can make quite alot of money at concerts and festivals as well, just keep your ears open for major events and apply your trade...Most of the ones I work, I net 200$ perday plus expenses, and generally have a damn good time doing it...

The worst festival I have ever worked was Ozzfest, I had the mosh pit in 30 minute intervals, and 30 minutes was more than enough....heh heh heh

you should take that job....it is a pretty chill strip club....most of the girls look good (i used to live with two of them)...you could be a manager at fantasy world if that doesn't work out, talk about wacked out chicks o'plenty....
 
20$/h is normal for a bouncer. SOme will get more. Depends if you work alone or if there's bouncer with you.

Pro: good money, you'll meet people easily, can get laid easily too.

cons: dangerous, you never know with who you're dealing (so be sure to know who's "running" the place before), can be boring sometimes especially if the music inside is shit.

one advice: have an expandable baton and handcuffs with you. That's what I always had when working (notice I was the only bouncer at my bar). Also, if you bring pepper spray with you (which isnt a bad idea) don't ever use it inside, ya'll know why Lol
 
i love athens, just wish there were actual real jobs there....god i loved tending bar at the last resort...topper's beats that other "gentlemen's club" by a mile, that sports bar place...can't remember the name...

i used to ride around athens in fly collar poly shirts, tight ass slacks on my banana seat bike with a PBR tall boy in the water bottle holder...pretty much a townie...

LOL- on the lighter side, but still under "cons"- the chicks will basically choose the same songs every time, if they get to pick. Mark my words, you will have every chick's dance moves memorized by heart. You'll have your back turned, and "My Angel Is a Centerfold" will come on. You'll be like, "Oop, there's Asia.". You turn around and see her performing her signature pivot/ hip swing with heel kick/pole straddle-slide to floor/ hands and knees ass splay- double pump/roll to back/finger pussy trace w/ a flourish- dance move. All aimed at the dumb schmucks down on gentleman's row, who are absolutely mesmerized. Aaaah, another night at the club...

I know Vern at Toppers. As far as I know, he's still there, and he's been there for at least five years. I think he actually married or was engaged to one of the dancers. And I think he does pretty well for himself.

Pros:

You're working in a titty bar (the obvious)
Beautiful girls that aren't your typical strippers
Lots of redneck assholes that get too drunk
They bring in alot of money at the door
Alot of regular girls go in there

Cons:

Those stupid-ass uniforms they wear
Alot of those girls are crack-whores
You're there pretty darn late
Alot of stuck-up fraternity boys
You have to tell people that you work in a strip club
