Bors, have you ever seen the northern lights?

I've seen them lots... and they look just like that.
Pretty cool shit.

I saw them for the first time on a military exercise last april at meaford, best moment of my life,5 mins later our commanding officer comes over and announced 4 of our guys died in afghanistan so it kinda killed the moment,I definatly have to see them at a happier time

absolutely beautiful. I was able to view the northern lights on a camping trip to the boundary waters canoe area late last summer. Although it wasn't quite as vibrant as some of those pictures, it was breathtaking none the less.

Saw them when I lived in Norway.

Right up near Trondheim. It was pretty cold.

They are a sight to see.
Seen them in northern alberta Canada.
Was working in the great white north looking for natural gas.
The fly boys use to buz us in CF18, Hornets ect from the base IN Cold LAke Alberta.
The largest fly zone in North America for military exercises.
They would come in and buzz us at tree top level.
Dove and hit the ground on more then one occashion.
They must of laughed their asses off.

Usually in Alaska, Canada, Northern Europe and Russia, but sometimes they can be seen as low as Florida. Link for Florida aurora

Yeah, I saw them in Missouri a few times, in addition to seeing them in Alaska...

Don't recall ever seeing them in Russia or Finland though; but it was close to the summer solstice, so the sun didn't really go down...

I live in Finland and just saw some auroras like 3 weeks ago. In fact, Finland is one of the best places to view auroras, 'cause the auroral oval is rotated towards Northern Europe by 21 pm -->

It's almost impossible to see auroras in Finland during the summer, 'cause it's so bright you usually can only see a couple of bright stars (Vega, Deneb and Altair) plus Jupiter, Venus and Mars. That's about it.

Here's a satellite pic from NASA's Spaceweather Now site:

I smoked some Northern Lights once... so I guess I can say I saw some Northern Lights.. but there is much better weed IMO... but I had to quit smoking that stuff... it makes me paranoid.
