I live on the east coast and I would love to be able to see any body building contests on TV, however all they show on ESPN is Lady Fitness and old ass strong man comp's.

To you guys in the rest of the country. Can't you get the Olympia on pay- per view? I also heard you can get Physical TV.. I call my digital cable company all the time and they never heard of any of this.

It's almost like it has not caught on out here.

i live on the east coast too andi think it was last week i came home form my night job, say 3 or 4 in the morning and they had an npc show on FOX. i forget what channel that is for me, but it was very rare, i think it was a gift from God personally cause he knows how tired i am of watching late night infomercial shit

We have to realize that mass America is too lazy and ignorant to appreciate what it takes to build an incredible physique and are not interested in having it on TV.

They much rather sit on their LAZY-BOY and drink a 12 pack of Bud while watching the women they "WISH" they could bang on shows like VIP and Baywatch.

Maybe one day bodybuilding will become mainstream but definitely not any time soon.

I don't think Bodybuilding will ever be mainstream. The closest it ever got was a couple odd years in between 60-80s when a large muscular physiques were used to symbolize heath and were sex symbols (ie.. reeves and draper). Now instead, people have adopted the skinny starve yourself body type as mainstream, its alot easier for your average lazy person to just stop eating, rather than eat well and workout.

Not to mention both men and women alike tend to feel inadequate or threatened, unlike most of us who feel motivated - by seeing muscular / strong physiques on stage.

Bodybuilding has a chance to gain alot of mainstream popularity assuming the public can be educated about steroids. However, as long as the media portrays steroid users in the same light as the corner crack-head, nothing is going to change.

True. It is the law makers that need to be educated. A lot of Cops know the difference between distructive rec drugs and AS. I know two who know the difference from experience. Who could blame them?

I have been judged and discriminated against in situations at work as a result of my fat, lazy, ugly boss being envious and gealous. I am an executive with an IQ of 140 and a great physique, the people that are in upper management positions are usually paranoid anyway. They are gealous and begin to try to think of reasons to take shots at me. They think that because I look the way that I do, that I put 4 hours a day into the gym and therefore can't be working enough. It's useless to explain that one hour per day is all that it takes..my point is that mainstream America still does not know how to take us and usually is bred from gealousy and lack of understanding.

Heres my opinions, and its sure to piss a lot of you off....but

Todays Pro BBer are just digusting. I mean ronnie freakin coleman, the sport's Champion looks like hes about to have a freakin baby, for christ sakes!!!!

Theres a reason why BBing was more popular in the early days like th elate 50s through the 70's, as Remy said, back then BBers could relate to the rest of the public, because they could be seen as pillars of good health.

Bill Pearl, Steve Reves, Dave Draper, John Grimek, Larry Scott, Zane, Arnie, these guys looked strong and healthy. Comapre these guys to the freaks we have reppin the sport today, im sorry, but those guys just dont look healthy. You can appreciate the hard work, the dedication, the size, and what not...you can appreciate anything you want my brothers, but please dont trick yourselves into thinking the Pros look healthy, they arent...is it any wonder why BBing cannot go mainstream?

I dont buy that argument that mass american is too lazy to appreciate the dedication. Thats like saying no other pro sport takes this level of dedication. Any pro athlete devotes THIER LIVES to thier sport, not just BBers. And despite that, Football, basketball, baseball, and hockey all flourish in the US.

Nor do I buy that whole argument that america wants that "Skinny Starved" look. As much as hollywood and the music industry has tried to shove that image for men down our throats, the fact is, I get jocked 10 times more with my build now, than I did when I was skinny. Granted, theres a fine line between being well built and strong and being a freak. Hey if your goal is to be a mass monster, more power to you, but I dont think its fair to judge the rest of America, because the dont like BBing when its taken to that extreme.

Like I said, the look of pros today is not appealing to me at all. I DO NOT want to get anywhere near that level of development. This is also why I dont follow the Pro's as much anymore, its just gotten outta control. But hey, the world of Pro BBing doesnt revolve around my tastes now does it? So why should I expect it to change for me? Why should I hate it because it wont cater to me? I just let it be.

Ok, flame away,

I've been in the same situation in the past. I've seen coworkers that go out for smoke breaks with the boss during the day and have drinks after work get ahead faster simply because they are spending more time around the boss and growing a better repore with him. Then again, my past boss was overweight and had just had double bypass heart surgery because of a heart attack and he still smokes cigars and cigarettes...dumbass.

well said hitmeoff.......that was one helluva objective and rational point of view.....i agree with him....i do admire the built of guys like coleman (never wanna be that big tho lol)...but i can see where mainstream america is comin from...being jacked and shrredded is one thing....the average guy/girl likes that look.....but being the insane freaky mass monsters they are is another story....ronnie coleman with a 4ft bakk sprawled out isnt too appealin when u think that their are ppl out there that arent as tall as ronnie is WIDE lol....and as far as the skinny starve-urself look....i think the waif look was more of an 80s thing..now we like our women with big tits and a matchin ass and flat stomach....and guys with shredded bodies and jacked arms and pecs
