Body Fat Meter

New member
We are having a contest at work as to who can drop the largest body fat % in 2 months. We used a Hand held digital meter. Does anyone know how accurate these are? Any tricks?

Those things are so innaccurate they measure how the current flows thru you since current flows at a different rate thru fat then muscle. So depending on how much wate ur cells have in them the results will fluctuate. Im not sure what it is dehydration or too much water that makes you test lower but one does one and the other the other.

I just had my body fat tested and it turn out to be 13%. I thought it would be lower . It was done with the calipers and they told me that was as accurate as I could find. Bullshit ! I've been busting my Ass doing cardio and lifting only to find my BF is that. I wish someone did Hydrostatic BF testing around here. That is suppose to be the most accurate. You can see the viens in my legs and arms ,when he told me my BF I'll bet you could see them in my head.

Those small meters are horrible. The four-wire ones are better. Regardless, they work best if you don't eat or drink for 3 hours before, urinate 30 min before, and don't workout that day. If you have any fluid retention, it will be way off also. DEXA is supposedly the new gold standard, then hydrostatic, then calipers.
