Is it just me or has the board been real slow lately? It's fucken irritating, just sitting there waiting for the post to go throuhg or even flip a page. That's why there are so many double posts by so many people.
Board is fucken slow...irritating me!!!!

I've got cable and this shit is slowwwwwwwwww.... I log off and get backk on and it works sometimes, but come on...

It's 2:00 am and this shit is still slow...what gives?
It's not from the high amount of users.
Its from some people in chat & conv trying to 'karma blast', which involves hitting the karma submit button a whole bunch of times to deliver a couple more points to the person. I'm not sure if it works, but someone explained how it slows the board down previously on chat. Pissing me off too because I had to get to my elite mail today to submit a application online that was due in a couple hours and it wouldn't access elite for 10 minutes at a time.
The only reasonable solution I see possible, trust me i've looked at this from all angles, lies in us all taking extreme amounts of halo and methyl test, forming a large good ol' fashioned anabolic posse, tracking down these alleged karma blasters via IP traces. Then one by one the posse will visit them all. Where we would castrate there tiny virgin testicles while site injecting estrodiol into there urethras.

Go to your "Profile" and Select "Edit Options".
Turn of all of the BS, Signatures, Avatars, etc. Turn off all the lame-ass pretty flashing BS pics and crap that people use to try to be cool.
One person had like a 300k motion GIF in their sig once. Unreal. And THAT was a Mod! If they post 5 times in a thread ... that will slow things down a lot.
Also check your setting for "defaults posts per thread". If that is high, it WILL take a while for each page to be rendered on the server (and that has little to do with bandwidth).
Yes it CAN be slow. But considering the sigs, avatars, the real-time posting, the fact that your post count is continuously updated, that karma point indicators show up as well .... all of these things are referenced in real time to build dynamic pages ... and each person browsing gets to see pages based upon their own personal prefs, so that each query that generates it is presented in a custom fashion based on THEIR settings, with all of that going on, the speed we DO see is still quite good.
Actually, there is a remarkable amount of stuff going on to generate these pages the way thay are presented.
But yeah. ... it gets slow.

we all know it costs money to run this site and pay for servers and all that, so how would everybody feel about contributing to help pay for a faster server or another server or whatever? maybe a paypal account could be set up and users could contribute whatever they felt like. i know i would add a couple of bucks or so. not much, but if we could get a bit from everybody then it would add up fast. just my 2 cents
